April PHD Update

by | May 5, 2021 | 4 comments

Another month has rolled around and it’s time for an update on my PHD list.

I cannot believe April is over and here it is May 5th!! Yesterday was Star Wars Day – hope the 4th was with you in a good way! LOL SWD brought us flooding and a tornado warning. Thankfully it did not touch down that I have heard. The flooding was crazy. We live on a hill and didn’t have a problem but our daughter’s neighbor had water coming in their front door. And even today, our city schools are on a three-hour delay because of flooding of streets and parking lots. We’ve had some crazy weather, but such is spring in Alabama! I hope you all had a good first quarter (gads!!!) of 2021.

On to the update. I am pleased to have a couple of finishes on my list this month!

First up is the bowl cozies. I was thankful for the Stitchin’ in the Kitchen Blog Hop that nudged me to get this one completed! You can read that post here.

My other finish is a big one! This quilt sat on my design wall half done for over a year, but it is finally finished! You can read that post here. This is Star Flower Borealis. I had a lot of fun quilting this! I used free motion, rulers and ProStitcher.

The next three are part of ongoing monthly challenges!

April Table Scraps Challenge with The Joyful Quilter

Here are my updated lists. Umm, yes, I started another project – Pieces of the Santa Fe Trail. I’m ordering fabric for it now.

It was nice to be able to check off a couple of finishes this month! I’ll be linking up with Quilting Gail’s PHD in 2021 Update.

I answer all comments via email. Please spread the love about my blog!

My favorite is the piece you did with the tree and the birdhouse. I will say it again, it is too cute to put on the table and would make a wonderful wall hanging. Not sewing this week, playing nursemaid to the hubby while he recovers from surgery a couple of days ago. Question – when is a UFO really a UFO? I have patterns/kits that I want to do, but they are still in the wrappers and on the shelf, not started, with no plan anytime soon. I consider them “big ideas”, and feel no particular guilt/urgency to work on them. For me, I feel like a UFO is something that has been cut out, and “started”, and will remain a UFO until the label goes on. I have a BUNCH like that! All stages, from blocks made to tops waiting on borders or quilting. I did get one finished this year so far, my Autumn Jubilee 2020.

Hi Brenda, Your bowl cozy is awesome! The birdhouse panel is lovely, and I love how the leaves of the flowers extend onto the border. The star flower quilt is magnificent! Have a great week!
