I know April is a shorter month…but it seemed REALLY short this year! But then, most of them do. I now understand my grandmother speaking of how time was flying when I was a kid. I marvelled at her comment as that was NOT my perception of time during my youth! LOL Welcome back to Monday Musings on this 1st day of May!
Last week was a bit different for me! There was a fire at the boys’ school on the 22nd and due to the smoke damage (one of the AC units caught on fire) they were on E-learning for the first three days of the week. They stayed with us and did their work on Monday and Wednesday and went with their mom to “help” with her SLP kiddos on Tuesday. Then, the school decided to E-learn for the rest of the week to complete the cleanup. Fortunately, they were diligent in getting their work completed before play time!
For the week of 4/24 – 4/30/23:
- Finish Block 3 of Amish With a Twist at Sew Day maybe? ✘ Nope – no sew day for me…see above!
- Work on May IB Challenge. ✔ Done – even got it quilted!! Sneak peaks!
- Work on houses for Rainbow Neighbourhood Quilt Along. ✔ Done kinda?? I got one and part of one cut out, but nothing stitched together.
- Begin cutting out F/W IB catalog quilt. ✘ Nope – looked at it…does that count? LOL
For the week of 5/1/23 – 5/7/23:
- Bind and label May IB Challenge. This will be donated to our church to raise money for kids camp and youth retreat.
- Work on Rainbow Neighbourhood Quilt Along.
- Finish Block 3 of Amish With a Twist (AWT).
- Cut out Block 4 of AWT maybe.
- Cut out F/W IB catalog quilt or at least get it started!

The best laid plans… better luck this week, and glad that no one was harmed in the fire.
Thanks for the feature! Glad the kids were ok an that E-Learning is an option…but not much time for you to sew. Hoping this week is a good one for you!
Some weeks are like that, aren’t they! I’m glad that the school will open soon and that nobody was hurt. Happy stitching!
While I am sorry about the fire, I’m glad you were able to step in and help the boys. Good luck with your list this week. Blessings!
So sorry to hear about the fire and the resulting change of plans. Congrats on making progress on some projects. Waiting to see the latest IB challenge — the quilting looks great.
That online learning option sure saved the day for the children’s schooling. And how wonderful that you could help them out that way. The quilting on your May challenge is gorgeous! Looking forward to seeing more, Brenda!!!
You certainly have a busy week planned. So nice that you were able to help out with your kiddos on short notice.
Hi Brenda! WOWEE! I’m so glad no one was hurt in the school fire. A few years back Sue’s school had a huge fire. It started in the library. Just imagine how hot and how quickly it spread with all those book. It was so sad to look at that beautiful school. Anyway – that eLearning can be a challenge but it sounds like they and you handled it well. Yay you for getting your May IB challenge complete and quilted. You rock! {{Hugs}} a bunch!! ~smile~ Roseanne
I am glad everyone was ok at the school and the children were able to continue with their lessons online. It sounds like a busy week for you though. Your quilting looks amazing. Can not wait to see your May IB challenge quilt in completion. Have a great week, Brenda
