To-Do Tuesday

by | Jun 9, 2020 | 6 comments

Well, it’s been a while since posting my last to-do list. Life happens. Lack of energy/mo-jo happens. What can I say? I think this lockdown has affected us more than we’d like to admit, at least it has me. Even though we are quilters/embroiderers/sewists, and we have plenty to keep us busy, sometimes just mustering the energy to get up and get moving is difficult. I’m sure you all understand what I mean.

Our guild hasn’t met since March and we’re not sure WHEN we’ll be able to meet again. We have 100+ members (out of over 200) that attend each month, and we meet at a large senior center, so we aren’t really sure when it will be safe for them to reopen, and even for us to meet. Even though our state is in Phase 2 of reopening, our numbers have not decreased. In fact, they’ve increased; however, a LOT more testing is being done, so that is one reason for the increase. Testing is easy and more accessible, so people are taking advantage of it. As of now, thankfully, I don’t know anyone who has been infected, and hope things remain that way!

OK, let’s take a look at my last to-do list from (OMG, I can’t believe it’s been that long) April 14th!!

  • Trim and bind Thing #1’s Christmas quilt (as she hangs her head in shame!!) done ✓
  • Make labels for both Thing 1 and Thing 2’s quilts, apply them, wash them, and have them ready for kids when I get to see them again (can I just say GiGi is having kiddo withdrawals?!!) done ✓
  • Press and square up panels for our guild’s panel challenge, due in June. I’ve read the instructions for the pattern through twice, so I think I’m ready to go! done ✓

So yes, it’s been nearly TWO months, but I finally did get all of this done. Though I must admit, the labels were just embroidered and stitched on this weekend. But hey, they are done, the quilts washed and ready to go to my boys!!

I’ve also done a few other things in the meantime. During the “Cool to be Square” Blog Hop, I posted a picture of my “test” block for a BOM I joined. It is an embroidered and quilted in the hoop quilt by Sarah Vedeler of Meaning of Life Designs. As a digitizer myself there are very few digitizers from whom I purchase designs, but Sarah is one of them. I prefer to digitize my own, because I know the quality of my designs. Sarah is awesome and her instructions are so thorough. Below you can see my test block on the left done with the blue background and my scrap fabrics. And on the right is my finished block. I was going to make 24″ blocks but decided the 18″ blocks were plenty big since this is not one that will go on my king sized bed. With Sarah’s permission I am actually using her quilting designs on my longarm machine and quilting there – just easier for me to do since I love my Ms. Mattie!!

So on to my to-do list for this week. Hopefully it won’t be two months before I update this as I’m finally feeling better and more like getting things done!

  • Work on guild challenge quilt
  • Cut out appliques and stitch at least the border of Month 2 Peace Village block (it’s a lot of starching, fusing, peeling, fusing onto background, and stitching – but the outcome is oh so worth it IMO!!)

I’ve decided to follow the lead of a few other bloggers and list TWO things to get done this week. Hopefully I’ll get more done! We will see what time allows!

Here is a pic of month 2 that I’ll be working on this week. It will be in my colors and I’ll put my gate in front!

Guess I’d better go get busy! Have a safe and happy week! Today, I’m linking up with HomeSewn by Us’s To-Do Linky Tuesday and my friend Dione at The Clever Chameleon. Until next time…

I answer all comments via email. Please spread the love about my blog!

Really glad to hear that you are feeling better. That is one heck of a cute design, I understand you not doing much of other people’s work in your situation, and why you have made an exception for this project! Thanks for sharing at the Chameleon’s Colour & Inspiration party.

    Hi Brenda
I am so glad to hear that I’m not the only one for lack of energy. I thought there was something wrong with me.
We’ve been in lock down since March so it’s really gotten to me and my husband.
Haven’t made anything but getting things organized as I got a little behind.
Thank you for the encouragement I needed that.
Looking forward to more things that are on the agenda

Hi Brenda! Just be kind to yourself. We surely do not need to get up in arms about a to-do list. Nothing happened if you get the things done or not. I do LOVE your actual block, and the second one will compliment it so nicely. Two items on the list is right up my alley although I think I picked three items this week. Thanks so much for linking up this week. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
