Good and Fun Things!!

Good morning everyone! The remnants of Tropical Storm Alberto are swirling through central Alabama at the moment. With a wind advisory and flash flood watch for our area, I think it’s a great day to stay in and quilt and embroider!!

I wanted to update with the great news regarding our mission quilt raffle, and to finally let you see the completed quilt! I am so pleased and thankful to say that even though we were late in starting to sell tickets, in two weeks we earned almost $1,000 for missions. I’ve already been asked to make one for next year. And we will start on it earlier next year!! The winner was Lisa Carden (permission granted to post her name.) This is such a blessing for those in need. Thank you all who participated! And yes, I still am writing up the pattern. I hope to get it finished next week while I’m sitting at a cabin in the mountains chilling!

This past weekend, I started actually putting on “paper” (in EQ8) my design for our guild challenge this year. We were challenged to take a favorite childhood book (ours or our chill’ins (children for those who aren’t from the South! LOL) and create a quilt. While I can’t reveal the quilt until next month after our meeting, I can show you a little of what I am doing! The book I chose is Alice(‘s Adventures) in Wonderland written in 1865 by Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, under the pen name, and better known as, Lewis Caroll. I found some royalty free clip art on the ‘net and started having some digitizing fun! Then I came up with the completed design! I won a Tula Pink fat quarter bundle in the 30 Blocks in 30 Days bloghop from Carla of Creatin’ in the Sticks, and thought this fabric is perfect for this quilt!! Here are a couple of the applique sign designs I created for the quilt.

I found this free Alice font at https://dafont.com. There are eight signs altogether. And several embroideries. More to come on this later!

I finished up (except for quilting) my project for the Where Flowers Bloom blog hop that will be in June. Stay tuned to see what everyone has created for this fun hop! Here is another sneak peak of it!

Can I just say how much I am learning about my new Pfaff Creative Icon? This is a truly awesome machine!! I’ve even decided to sell my Baby Lock Ellisimo Gold and keep just the Pfaff and my Bernina 830. It’s really hard to keep three machines going at one time! LOL

Annie’s Craft Store is having a 60% off  on over 1000 items including 221 in quilting! (Affiliate link!)

That’s all for now. I hope you all have a great week. It is a short work week for most of the USA in remembrance yesterday of those who sacrificed their all for our country. We thank you and pray for those you left behind.

Great job raising $1000 on your mission raffle quilt!!! Love your colorful quilt. Where’s the money going to? I hope that doesn’t sound snoopy, just thought maybe it is going to a certain country. Have a quilt weekend!!!

      Hi Nancy,
The majority of the money is going to buy necessities for Haiti. We support a missionary with a large ministry there and are working through him. Some will be used to help kids who cannot afford church camp be able to go. Thanks so much for stopping by!
