Announcing SAHRR 2024

by | Dec 22, 2023 | 3 comments

For the past four years Gail of Quilting Gail, has hosted a SAHRR. So what IS a SAHRR, you ask? SAHRR is the acronym for Stay At Home Round Robin! Round robins are a common activity in many quilt guilds. A round robin (in quilting terms) is where each person makes a center block. This block is put in a bag or container, maybe with extra fabric, perhaps with a notebook, and the bag is passed onto another quilter in the group. They are given instructions as to what kind of border (or round) they are to add on to the quilt. Sometimes the next person will make a border for each side, or one side or two sides of the block. It’s then passed on to another quilter and it continues on. When the quilt center and all the borders are completed, it is returned to the original maker of the center block. During covid, Gail came up with the fabulous idea of a round robin where you never leave your home, and neither does your quilt!!

You stay home and so does your quilt!!

This year, I have the privilege and fun of participating with Gail and the other ladies in providing prompts for each round.

How do I join?

You don’t have to join or sign up on a list. You simply follow each of our blogs for the prompt. You can follow my blog by completing the form under my photo in the side bar. That way, all my posts will be sent directly to your inbox.

How will the SAHRR work?

(From Gail!) On January 15, we will show you our center blocks … We got together once and I’ve seen plans of a few of the center blocks: all of them totally different! This will give you some ideas of what you can make or use (do you have orphan blocks?)

Then on January 22 (and each Monday following) we will give you instructions as to what the next border/round is to be. Again, we will all show you our center blocks with the first border to give you some ideas.

Here are my blogging co-leaders in the order of what we will be doing and the linky parties we will be hosting each week. (There will only be one linky party each week … and we’ll direct you to it …)

  • January 15: Gail will host the first linky party … for you to show your center block … but you’ll have to visit each of the SAHRR co-host bloggers to see their center blocks
  • January 22: 1st Round:   Wendy @ Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life
  • January 29: 2nd Round:   Anja @ Anja Quilts
  • February 5: 3rd Round:  Emily @ The Darling Dogwood
  • February 12: 4th Round:  Brenda @ Songbird Designs THAT’s ME!!
  • February 19: 5th Round: Gail @ Quilting Gail
  • February 26: 6th Round:  Kathleen @ Kathleen McMusing
  • March 18:Parade: showing all of your finished SAHRRs!

We have some wonderful sponsors this year who will offer prizes also!! Please check out Gail’s post HERE for information on the list of prizes and to see her quilts from previous years! There is also a FAQ section for you to check out.

What to do now?

Make sure that you follow each of the SAHRR leaders so that you don’t miss their posts.

Start thinking about what you might do for a center block.

Relax … this is easy … and it’s only one round each week!

I’ve participated with Gail the past two years and here are my quilts from 2022 and 2023.

Please be sure and check out Gail’s announcement post HERE for other details and information. We do hope you will join in the fun. Remember, it’s just one round per week! Until next time…

I answer all comments via email. Please spread the love about my blog!

How exciting, Brenda! I look forward to following along and watching everyone’s progress. I was hoping to join in this year. I may be able to, but I will be joining in late if I do. Thank you for telling about the upcoming event. Hugs.
