I’ll be Gnome for Thanksgiving!!

by | Nov 21, 2024 | 20 comments

This fun blog hop is hosted by Joan who blogs at Moosestash Quilting! Our challenge: To “Gnome” them is to love them! Throw a little Thanksgiving twist into your “Gnomie” project! Or anything that shows your thankful!

We have so much to be thankful for…family, friends, good food, a warm (or cool) and dry home, vehicles to go from place to place, and of course quilting and all my quilty “cyber” friends!! As I was contemplating this blog hop, I was thinking about Thanksgiving and how traditions change as we get older. When our daughter married, we told them David’s mom could have them for Thanksgiving lunch and we would have them for Christmas! We used to have a cookout of sorts on Thanksgiving night and would roast wieners over the Little Red Camp Fire and then let the kiddos make S’mores while the parents went shopping. Now they have a camper and last year, and this year, have plans to take it to a campground near the Gulf and have Thanksgiving there. It’s a nice campground with an indoor pool and fun things for the kids to do to keep them occupied, but I do miss those fun Thanksgiving nights! Ah well…on to my project.

I decided to try an in-the-hoop project that really shows the sentiments I feel this time of year – thankful and grateful. This took 13 hoopings to create the embroidery sections and then sew them together and add a backing. It was fun to use my machine for embroidery for this project. And, of course, there is a gnomie thrown in the mix!! If you embroider, this design is from Designs by JuJu – Harvest Table Topper (no affiliation). I used left overs from various Island Batik projects!

I also made a turkey gnome name tag for guild meeting this month! It was a big hit!

Joan created a Pinterest page to show all of our projects. Check it out: https://www.pinterest.com/moosestashq/gnome-for-thanksgiving-blog-hop/.

I hope you enjoyed the last stop on this Gnomie Train! We are now leaving the Depot, headed into the home stretch for The Virtual Christmas Cookie Exchange Blog Hop in a couple of weeks. If you haven’t already, please take some time to visit my fellow bloggers and leave a comment. We love hearing from you. You can find the complete schedule on THIS post! Until next time…

Hi Brenda, Your Thanksgiving table topper is So cute! Love your adorable name tag and that you can button it on to a number of different items. It reminds me of a little dress that I bought for Stephanie when she was 2 at the Christmas Hospital Boutique in Omaha. It had patches for all of the different holidays that you could button on. I loved it! Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I love this piece, JUJU has some great designs. I am a first generation American and my parents celebrated Thanskgiving as a holiday but without the turkey. Until I got married we always had Leg of Lamb for all special occasions.
Well I don’t want to overlook your name tag. He is wonderful, so much personality.

As we get older those traditions from days gone by really warm our hearts don’t they. I love your table topper. I’ve been on a Design by JuJu kick here lately myself. I might just have to purchase that Thanksgiving topper while she’s having her great sale! LOL!! Those turkey name tags are just adorable. You had to be the favorite in your guild! Have a blessed Thanksgiving and thanks for hopping with us for all these years!
