Lots Going On!

by | Jan 16, 2019 | 6 comments

Hello everyone! This is just a quick update on progress toward my January goals. Before I get started I want to let you know about my friend Carole who blogs at From My Carolina Home. She is heading up the Carolina Hurricane Quilt Project. More than 4500 quilts are needed for those whose homes were completely destroyed. There is still plenty of time to help as this project will continue through the summer of 2019. Carole is matching top makers with longarmers to help get more quilts sent. If you would like to help someone in need, click here to be taken to a form to sign up either as a top maker, longarmer, or both! Completed quilts should be bed sized. There are five drop off locations in NC, with Wilmington being the distribution point. Please consider this opportunity to give the gift of love – a quilt – to someone who has lost everything. Carole will provide regular updates on her blog.

Secret Sewing

Here is my fabric pull for some secret sewing I am doing, to be revealed later in the summer! Part of this project was one of my OMGs for January. I just love this fabric and think this project will turn out great!

Fabric pull for my secret sewing project!!

This goal for January was to get all the green squares and half-square triangles cut. And here they are!! I just love using my AccuQuilt Go!BIG machine – and using the Stripology ruler from Creative Grids (no affiliation – just love their rulers!) makes cutting the strips very quick! Until the end of January, AccuQuilt has a great offer of a $50 mail in rebate for the Go!BIG or the Ready.Set.Go! cutting system. Select Go! dies are on sale for up to 40% off!

My favorite “tools of the trade” make quick work of cutting squares and HST’s. All of these, 48 3 inch squares and 204 HST’s were cut in about an hour – including time spent pressing the fabric!! I’m now ready to cut out the rest of the squares and triangles!!

Thanks for stopping by! I’ll be linking up with some of my favorite linky parties – you know – those over in the side bar!! —>

Until next time…

I answer all comments via email. Please spread the love about my blog!

Can’t wait to see all your secret sewing Brenda! Going to enjoy that B&W hop, and then it looks like you are sewing a rainbow to compensate! 🙂

Love your colors for your secret sewing project. Those Go cutters work so well, though I don’t personally have one, just what I’ve seen others post. They seem appealing until I think of all the dies one must buy, one for each particular size and shape. It’s too bad there’s not a cutter that you can program to cut the way you want without the dies. But, perhaps, in the future I’ll choose to buy one.

Nancy – there are a number of machines that do this. I own and love a Brother ScanNCut. There are also Cricut and Janome versions that I know of specifically targeting fabric cutters also. There are probably more.

You are a busy lady! I’m glad to see you like the Go Big. I can’t buy one right now, but if I keep cutting quilt blocks, I’m going to need one down the road. Cutting is just too hard on my left hand. What’s the biggest block it cuts? Thanks!
