Or at least their paws have been all over this here quilt! LOL Welcome to Round Three of the Stay at Home Round Robin – 2026! Today Emily gave us the prompt: Animal Kingdom! This week, we’re taking inspiration from the animal kingdom! Any animal counts, from the smallest ant to the biggest of sharks.
There are lots of ways to interpret Animal Kingdom. Here are some ideas:
- Block named after an animal: Bear’s Paw, Monkey Wrench, Snail’s Trail, Birds in the Air, Shoo Fly, Puss in the Corner, Turkey Tracks, etc.
● Applique of an animal
● Pieced block that looks like an animal
● Fabric that contains animals
I chose the Bear’s Paw block. My blocks are six inches each. Here they are close up.
These blocks were easy and fun to make. I continue to use my scraps, including different backgrounds. My blocks are made with one 2-1/2″ square, four 2-1/2″ HSTs (half square triangles), and one 4-1/2″ square, in the center. I used my AccuQuilt Qubes to make mine, but they are easily cut using a rotary cutter and mat. I think this fabric is from one of Deb Tucker’s Island Batik collections.
And here they are added to my center block…well, at least placed on the design wall to be added! This will be the last time you see a view of my design wall until the last prompt is given and made, because the next three prompts will not be placed into the quilt in the order given. Trust me, there is a method to my madness! LOL

Now head to your studio and visit the animal kingdom, channel your inner spirit animal, make your Round Three blocks, and link up with Emily. Remember, you interpret each prompt and it’s placement as YOU see fit! There are no quilting/designing police in this SAHRR!! As you can see, my blocks are many different sizes that work together to form this quilt! It’s all up to you! Make one block, make a row, or even an entire border!
If you don’t have a blog you can link up an Instagram post as well to be eligible for one of the many prizes that will be given away.
I failed to add a photo for Kathleen H. with her round one prompt which she sent to me. Here it is, though a little late! I love the center block!

Thanks to everyone who linked up their round one photos!

A good move for your quilt, using the background for the big square of the bear paw. Keeps the whole light and airy.
