Happy New Year!

Wow! Can you believe the new year is here? Not only the new year, but a brand new decade! I always remember my sweet Granny talking about how quickly time was passing, and as a kid I remember thinking, “Woman, what are you talking about?!” It just seemed to drag for me. I can now say that I totally understand what Granny was talking about! And, like her, I think it passes faster every year!

I hope that you all had a very happy holiday season and New Year’s day, as well! I apologize for the absence, but, unfortunately, my blog and website have been done for a couple of weeks and I have been unable to post anything. So here I am now!

What are you all working on? I got Thing #1’s tiger top finished in time for Christmas, however, did not get it quilted. That’s my priority next week. I would have worked on it today, but we’ve been under a tornado watch from 8 this morning until a few of hours ago, and under a severe thunderstorm warning for the last couple of hours of that. It was a weird weather day. Our favorite meteorologist told us to go to our safe place even if we were under the thunderstorm warning because of the super cells and the damaging straight line winds associated with this system. Thankfully, we did not have any bad damage, just a few small trees down at the edge of our woods. We are very grateful since the ground is already saturated and we got even more heavy rain and wind. At any rate, it’s all past us now and hopefully we will have a good Sunday before it starts back on Monday and Tuesday! Wherever you are reading this, I hope you are safe and dry!

I ceased making New Year’s resolutions long ago, but I have been thinking about goals for this year. First, I need to get B’s quilt quilted and bound and labels on both his and D’s quilts. They weren’t very happy they could not take them home with them at Christmas! That made me feel both good that they liked them and sad they weren’t ready for them to start sleeping under!

Second, I need to get the boys’ sister’s unicorn quilt made. It will be for her birthday in February.

Third, I will participate in several blog hops this year. I really enjoy getting to meet new people and chat with my cyber quilting friends on the hops!

Fourth, I have two or three BOMs I’ve collected, and I really want to get at least one of them completed.

Fifth, I won two stacks of block of the month from my guild that I will make into quilts and donate back to our cuddle quilt stash. As our guild also is very involved in Quilts of Valor, I hope to be able to make and/or quilt some for the guild.

Sixth, I want to get the patterns I’ve created written up and on the website. Now, if only I can cipher all the notes I’ve made while making the quilts! 😉

And last, but definitely not least, before I start another big project, I want to organize my sewing studio. I purchased some cubbies that I think will be better for my stash than what I have now, and they fit perfectly on the counter top under my cabinets (which are way too full!)

After the storms passed today, hubby helped me get my hammock on my quilt frame so that batting doesn’t have to sit on the floor. I think I’ll enjoy using it. Guess I’ll find out next week when I start on B’s quilt!

I have many more plans for the year, but I think this is a good start and I look forward to sharing my progress with you. Stay tuned for the first blog hop of the year for me coming up this month. It is Winter Blues and is being hosted by Carla of Creatin’ in the Sticks! So drop back by on the 23rd to check out my project.

Until next time…
