No talkie before coffee, said every Monday ever! 🙊✋

Happy Monday morning!!! Welcome to Monday Musings! I hope you have all had a great week and got a lot of fun sewing projects done! We’ve had a great week here with fall-like temps and, as of right now, it seems they will continue with some being in the 60s this coming week! We usually have a day or two and then it heats back up. We are getting a little rain, which is most welcome since we are in a severe drought in our county. Now let’s move on to the good stuff!!
Here’s how my story ended for the week of 10/20- 10/26/25:
- Work on the big quilt! DONE!! Working on it. I have the two upper borders completed, one with piano keys and one with circles and swirls inside. I’ve begun the next rows, but I haven’t decided what to put in the on-point squares just yet. Ms. Mattie was giving me a lot of trouble this week. Here are a couple of photos on what I’ve done.
- Clean machine and maybe start a new project?? NOPE!! I didn’t even turn my Solaris on! I did post my table runner for Joan’s Out of the Dark Blog Hop. Check out my previous post for the details.

- Do some more rearranging and cleaning. I am stacking a lot of it for Quilt Fest next year to raise money for the guild. NOPE!! Not yet – reason below!
- Whatever cranks my tractor! DONE!! Well, it really didn’t crank my tractor, BUT…I updated my Avante and it went haywire! I tried to contact my HQ service guy and, unfortunately (for me – not him!!), he was out of the country on vacation, SOOO, I spent a lot of time on the phone with Handi Quilter. Thank goodness they are there. I wound up having to roll back the update to an earlier one, though it is still more up to date than it was, as I haven’t updated it in years. That’s what you get for watching videos and learning of new features in Pro-Stitcher updates! Oh well, I finally got it working Friday afternoon, so we are ready to rock and roll this week.
Plans for the week of 10/27- 11/2/25:
- Continue working on the big quilt. It will take a while!
- Get Ms. Mattie serviced IF the tech can do it with the quilt still on the frame, otherwise it will have to wait until I’m finished. I really don’t want to take it off and put it back on at this stage.
- Hopefully start my December Virtual Christmas Cookie Exchange project?? We’ll see!
- Whatever suits my fancy.

Hi Brenda, thanks for the preview. I really hope that your machine will be ok. Take care and thanks for the party!
LOL “no talkie before coffee” How funny and true! Hee! Hee! Well your table runner is so darn cute! Love it. I am so glad that you are rock and Rollin’ again. Having to update / upgrade anything always leaves me flustered of course I am not tech savvy. Enjoy your day, Brenda. Hugs.
I’m not really sure what an Avante is but I’m glad you got yours sorted out. I hope you are having a fun week 🙂
So interesting about your update. I hope your rep isn’t in Jamaica! Like you we are looking forward to a cold front going through today, although we could do without the forecasted wind advisory. Hope you have a wonderful week!
I’m reminded that I still need to update my Bernina; I keep putting it off until my project is finished, but there’s always another project. . . Have a great week!
Oh, the woes of an update. I hope your service guy can come and do what needs to be done when it works for you and him! I am on the latest version and many of the techs don’t like it. Most of it is ok…but my machine chatters….just like me! Good luck with your week…your quilting looks fab on the big quilt!
I feel for you, Brenda, with the upgrade. Mine is a couple years overdue but I feel like, if it’s not broke, don’t fix it. Plus, I fear there’s going to be haywire if I do. I hope all goes well with yours this week.
