Let your Monday be caffeinated and your goals lofty ☕🌟😊

Happy Monday morning everyone. Welcome to Monday Musings! Well we’ve had another week of crazy weather. It was in the 70s and low 80s, then a storm came through and it was in the 40s! The Bradford Pears lining the median in our neighborhood were in beautiful full bloom, then the wind came and the blooms are on the ground, but our trees are definitely greening up, as is evidenced by the pollen on our black vehicles! As I right this on Sunday afternoon, we are expecting some severe weather in our area tonight. Spring is nothing if not fickle! Now let’s move on to the good stuff!!
Here’s how my story ended for the week of 3/9/26- 3/15/26:
- Begin stitching on Flossie! I’ve not done any hand stitching in a long time, so I hope I remember the stitches. I really need to find my Handy Pocket Guide for Embroidery Stitching. Hmmm, now in what safe place did I put that? DONE!! Well, I didn’t find that pocket guide but I found a nice reference for the kindle on Amazon. I’ve been working a little on her most evenings while watching TV, alternating with my barn project – and sometimes both in the same evening!! LOL Here she is thus far. Excuse the rough looking stitches. I’m still getting the hang of it, slowly but surely!

- Make backing and get SAHRR on the quilt frame to begin quilting. DONE!! Ready to commence the quilting.
- Work on my Herrshner’s Christmas Barn project. I’ve been swapping it up with stitching on Flossie some days! DONE!! Here are the parts I’ve done. The doors and barn quilt, along with the “snow drifts” will be attached to the front when I begin the assembly.
- Download designs, cutting files, instructions, and begin reviewing videos for Center Medallion of Sunshine Cove. DONE!! I hope to get started choosing fabrics and backing with fusible this week.
- Whatever cranks my tractor! DONE!! It was so nice Friday, we loaded up and went to Prattville to watch Miss M compete in the regional archery competition. She did great!! Here are photos of her shooting and her score. She said she’s done better and she’s done worse, so she was OK. Their team did qualify for state, which will be held at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery next month. Out of a perfect 300 score, I think she did well. I was impressed! Click the photos to see them in full.
Plans for the week of 3/16- 3/22/26:
- Get SAHRR quilted.
- Hopefully sew day with friends on Wednesday.
- Continue working on Flossie and the Christmas Barn.
- Choose fabrics and cut out applique for Sunshine Cove center medallion (after I clean and restick my mats!)
- Whatever suits my fancy.

Brenda Flossie is just too cute and you’ve made great progress on her and your Christmas Barn project, too! Congrats to Miss C on her score. Well done and what fun it must have been to watch. Thank you for sharing on To Do Tuesday. 🤗 Carol
Thanks so much, Carol. Have a great week!
Hi Sandra, I love your Flossy! There’s so much going on that your stitches won’t stand out and you will get better as you keep going 🙂 That’s the fun with embroidery. I’m looking forward to seeing your finished SAHRR. I just finished my flimsy. Yay!!!
Oooh your cow… she’s a beauty. You’ve made a lot of progress on her. Congrats to the archer. Not many kids are interested in that sport… I’m not sure if local high schools even offer it. And weather. YUCK. We are under a tornado watch. And, thunder storms. And high winds. No fun. I’m baking cookies just to have some comfort food later. Hopefully we don’t see all of those choices here today.
Thanks, Bonnie! The stitching is going more quickly than I anticipated! Hope you were safe in the storms. We were under a tornado watch also. Thankfully, nothing bad around us. Enjoy your cookies!
Happy Spring! We’re also having lots of variety in the weather, with gusty wind and cool temperatures today. Enjoy the cool, as it will be hot for months once it begins. 😁
Flossie is just adorable!! Thanks for sharing her as she is spectacular!
Mother Nature is fickle!! I sure hope your pears still produce – I love pears. Flossie is oh so cute. And congrats to the Shooter!! That is awesome!!
You sure working on a variety of cute projects!
Thanks, Cathy!
Your stitches on Flossie look great! You’ve progressed nicely on the barn. Congrats to your granddaughter, she did well! I took one semester of archery in college and thought it would be a breeze. It was hard! My arm muscles were so sore the first week I could barely raise my arms at all.
Thanks, Linda! I think my arms would be tired also and achy also. She loves it. She took two years in middle school and this is her third year in high school, and plans to take her senior year also. She loves it…but it could be because that’s the only class she has with her honey! LOL
