I really love that there are no quilt police in our SAHRR! This week Anja, from Anja Quilts, is providing the prompt and she gives us creative license to choose the block we want to make! Here’s the prompt – Quilter’s Choice!
Since I have two spaces I need to fill in my quilt, I decided to create a block that would fit! I designed the center of these two blocks in EQ8 and added a background square to each side of it. Here are my blocks for this prompt.
To make this block, which measures 4-1/2 x 12-1/2″ unfinished, I used two 4-1/2″ blocks on either side of the “flower” block I created. I will add a tutorial on how to make this “flower,” probably tomorrow, and you are welcome to use it in your SAHRR or just make it for fun or for another quilt. Stay tuned for that tutorial, if you are interested.
Now with this prompt added, I can finally show you how my blocks were laid out to create my SAHRR flimsy. I am going to have fun quilting this with some free motion and ruler work.
Head to your studio and prepare to make your blocks for this prompt. Then head over to Anja’s blog and show them off in the linky pary. Remember, you interpret each prompt and it’s placement as YOU see fit! There are no quilting/designing police in this SAHRR!! Thank goodness!! As you can see, my blocks are many different sizes that work together to form this quilt! It’s all up to you! Make one block, make a row, or even an entire border!
If you don’t have a blog you can link up an Instagram post as well to be eligible for one of the many prizes that will be given away.
Visit each of the co-hosts and take a look at their interpretations of this round.

We reached out to several companies that we all LOVE and many of them agreed to sponsor the SAHRR 2026!!! We will keep track of all of the participants that link to our Linky parties each week. We will make a list and use a random number generator to choose the winners for each prize! So, if you link up to 3 Linky parties, you will have 3 opportunities to win! If you don’t have a blog or Instagram account, contact me, or one of the other co-hosts and we will post your SAHRR on our blog. This way you still have an opportunity to win! Beautiful flowers for a lovely finish, Brenda! You’ve given us a goal to get going on, with your great example. Now we are motivated to have a fine finish for March. Thank you again!
Hi Brenda, what a gorgeous quilt. I’ve kept an image of it to inspire me for my layout. I find that I just put the blocks together without any negative space. Your quilt is a great inspiration. Thanks so much.
So much work for the last border. I love the colour that gives this beautiful quilt a frame. Much fun with quilting!
You filled that gap with a perfect flower! Love this quilt…it really is so fun.
Can’t wait to see how you quilt it.
I LOVE your latest blocks! They are perfect! The quilt looks fantastic!
I love your flowers and look forward to the tutorial! Your pretty outer border with curves just sets everything off so nicely.
Thank you, Linda! It will post tomorrow! I am glad I saved those curves for the last border. I think it frames the quilt well.
Oh wow, your finished quilt top looks fantastic. I love how the flexibility of Anja’s prompt filled in the gap you needed so perfectly.
I love the addition of those two blocks, and your finished quilt is fabulous! I cannot wait to see the quilting you do!
Your quilt is so unique. I love the final border.
Thank you, Kat! I love that everyone’s is unique. I guess that’s why I love the SAHRR so much – seeing how individuals interpret the prompts to suit themselves!
Lovely quilt, Brenda. Those last 2 really worked well for your quilt. Amazing how everyone’s quilt is so different.
