Monday Musings 4/27/26

Happy Monday morning everyone. Welcome to Monday Musings. I hope you all had a wonderful week of stitching, whatever that may look like for you! I used to be a morning person, but as I’ve gotten older, I’m a little morning impaired! How about you? Do you do your best work in the morning or afternoon or evening? I hope all of you are safe from the terrible storms that have been occurring across the country. Now, let’s move on to the good stuff!!

Here’s how my story ended for the week of 4/20/26- 4/26/26:

  • Begin stitching on Highland Heifer #3 – Daisy!! DONE!! Well…not on Daisy, but Lassie instead. Not so funny story: I like to use my printer to print the applique pieces. It’s a little work but much neater than my tracing them onto the fusible. I will usually scan in the “sheets” and pull the PDF into my Corel software and then transfer the pieces of applique from the original sheet, because many are nested or need more than one of the piece. So, I had done this with Daisy and something weird happened with my printer and one entire sheet did not print to the actual size, which I didn’t know before I had put them on the wool and cut them out. Soooo, I had to purchase a few more pieces of wool for the ones that didn’t print correctly. UGH! The creators of Highland Heifers are in Paducah this past week and won’t be able to ship them until this week when they return home. While I am waiting, I decided to go ahead with the next one – Lassie! So, to be safe, I traced all the pieces onto the fusible this time. And, here is a pic of Lassie with all fused in place. I love old trucks and these heifers so much! I must say Steam-a-Seam 2 Lite is the bomb-diggity for applique. Lesson learned!
  • Continue working on Christmas Barn. DONE!! I got two more smaller wreaths done and part of one inside wall. Sorry – no photos yet.
  • Continue embroidering borders of Sunshine Cove Center medallion. DONE!! I have the medallion finished. Now I need to add the half suns and borders and then I can begin the quilting! I’m so thankful Sarah has videos on these as this one is a bit different from the 18″ blocks. You don’t quilt it until the borders are added to the medallion! Thankfully, I double checked the process! Sadly, Sarah is retiring, so I need to purchase an external drive and download all my designs I’ve purchased through the years onto it, as well as the videos.
  • Whatever suits my fancy! DONE!! We finally got to have a celebratory lunch with our daughter and family for her birthday. She chose to go to Red Lobster. It was really good this time. With our RL, it’s a toss up – you never know what you’re going to get.

Plans for the week of 4/27- 5/3/26:

  • Finish stitching Lassie…hopefully!
  • I hope to stitch a few pieces of the Christmas barn, but we will see. First priority right now is Lassie for hand work!!
  • Sunshine Cove – borders for center medallion.
  • Whatever suits my fancy. There are two family events coming up – Thursday night is D’s final theater performance, and Saturday is M’s dance recital. Plus, I have a dental appointment Thursday. So, we will see what else I can squeeze in! End of school year is a busy time!!
