Monday Musings 4/20/26

Happy Monday morning everyone. Welcome to Monday Musings. I hope you all had a wonderful week of stitching, whatever that may look like for you! Well that quote and meme above, definitely are describing the weather in Alabama. Last week we were in the high 80s, and one day I think we reached 90! Saturday night another storm blew through and Sunday we wore sweaters and jackets to church! We haven’t had snow, or unfortunately, a lot of rain as we really need it, but everything else fits! Crazy!!! Now let’s move on to the good stuff!!

Here’s how my story ended for the week of 4/13/26- 4/19/26:

  • Finish Buttercup…hopefully! DONE!! Despite all the drama with the (non)adhesive backing for the appliques, I really LOVE how she turned out. And, I love those daffodils and how the hyacinths turned out. I’m learning these stitches as I go along since I’ve not done much hand embroidery in the past.
  • I hope to stitch a few pieces of the Christmas barn, but we will see. First priority right now is Buttercup!! DONE!! I was able to get the two barn doors and a large wreath completed. This is the first time I’ve ever tried a French knot using yarn!
  • Guild on Monday and hopefully sew day with friends on Wednesday. DONE!! Well, I made guild on Monday because I had to turn in my entries for our big quilt show in June. I’ve got to get Sunshine Cove finished up! I did not make it to Sew Day, though.
  • We both have MD appointments this week, so we will see if anything else gets done! DONE!! Despite being a busy week, I managed to get half of the other three sides of the center medallion of Sunshine Cove completed.
  • Whatever suits my fancy. DONE!! Monday night we attended D’s theater performance at school. He had the most lines of anyone and was one of the main characters. I was so proud of him and that was the funniest and most enjoyable play they’ve had of all three years they’ve been in Theater! It was so good, Chicken Legs even purchased a thumb drive with the performance on it! Here is what is teacher said about him.

And last weekend was Junior Prom for his big sister! These two have been together since summer of their freshman year. I think he may be a permanent family fixture! LOL He made her bouquet and she made his boutonniere!

Plans for the week of 4/20- 4/26/26:

  • Begin stitching on Highland Heifer #3 – Daisy!!
  • Continue working on Christmas Barn.
  • Continue embroidering borders of Sunshine Cove Center medallion. I hopefully will finish this week and can begin quilting the empty center. An appliqued scene will be in the center as in the other blocks, plus it will have some more elements to it. It is time consuming but oh so worth it!
  • Whatever suits my fancy!
