Hi everyone! Today is my day to share on the For the Birds Blog Hop which is being hosted by Joan of Moosestash Quilting! Our challenge from Joan was: Angry birds, crazy birds, whimsical birds, or flying geese. If it’s a bird, this is their time to show their colors.
Here in the south we have so many different birds and often, on the side of the road, you can find someone selling hand made bird houses! Hummingbirds are my favorite. I love to see them buzzing around the feeder…except when one of them hogs the whole thing and buzzes the others away.
A few years ago, I participated in The Quilt Show’s quilt mini quilt exchange program. My exchange partner was a sweet lady from Germany. Fortunately, she knew English pretty well and we enjoyed communicating even after the program had ended. Here is the quilt I made and sent to her. It’s hard to tell, but I added a lot of crystals to this and had so much fun making it.

After that short diversion, now, back to our regularly scheduled programming! LOL I’ve had some fun art work for birds as I have collected them since I began my embroidery web site in 2009. So I dug into my art work stash and came up with one that I thought was perfect for this hop.
I pulled it into my embroidery software and created an in-the-hoop applique, embroidery, and quilting project! Here is my mini quilt called Home Tweet Home!

Please take a few minutes and visit my fellow bloggers today to see what they have created For the Birds!! Here is today’s schedule.

Very nice quilts!
Home Tweet Home is so very cute! I LOVE it!
Both of your pieces are wonderful pieces of art. I love what you accomplish with your embroidery machine.
Both of these quilts are absolutely adorable. What a wonderful quilt to gifted in the exchange. And Home Tweet Home is perfect for the Spring and Summer seasons. Have a wonderful weekend, Brenda. Hugs.
Both of your bird pieces are adorable Brenda. I didn’t realise you could do applique like that on your embroidery machine – very clever!
I love the hummingbird and sunflower quilt! That is too cute! The Home Tweet Home mini is adorable!
Beautiful work Brenda! I always enjoy seeing your embroidery projects!
Your patriotic bird house is so special and so perfect for the current season. My embroidery machine does not get used as much as it used to, but you’ve got me thinking about working on a project soon!
Cute projects! Thanks for sharing.
It is adorable Brenda, and I love the one you sent to Germany.
Adorable quilts, both of them. Love the Home Tweet Home!
I really need to drag out my embroidery module more often, especially after I see your sweet work. That “Home Tweet Home” is just so cute! What a nice gift for your friend in Germany and the crystals make it even more special. Thanks for flying with us, Brenda, and inspiring us as usual!
Both those designs are fabulous! I love to see the hummingbirds. We have one feeder, they liked a lot last year, this year not so much. Guess it is time to investigate this a little more.
Home Tweet Home is too cute. It amazes me what you can do with machine embroidery software. I know your friend in Germany is loving her little bird quiltie! How sweet is that!
What cute quilts. That last one is my favorite. The black hanger is really nice as well.
Your birdhouse mini design is so pretty – love the title Home Tweet Home! When you made that beautiful hummingbird mini a few years ago, how did you apply crystals? I just read your About Me page – so interesting to read your sewing history and learn a little about you!
Both of your quilts are wonderful, but I really like the embroidered bird house!
That’s such a cute mini. The design is so clever and the quilting is perfect on it. Your earlier piece is pretty too.
I too love hummingbirds, you created a great gift for your Germany friend. And I am impressed with your birdhouse design too!
Brenda, both of those quilts are so pretty! I love hummingbirds too. They are so cute and tiny. I swear when they fly around they sound just like the swishing buzzing sound of the Jetson’s theme song, lol!!!
OMG Love it!! hope you will sell this beautiful design? You have so much talent! Thanks for sharing.
Hi Brenda, Your Home Sweet Home mini quilt is Absolutely Adorable! The quilt that you made for the lady in Germany for a mini quilt exchange is fabulous! The screen on my laptop has a touch screen, so I am able to see the beads that you added to your flowers. They really add a a fun, and lovely touch, to your quilt.
