Another month has flown by and it’s time for the October Monthly Color Challenge block which is hosted by Jen at Patterns by Jen! This month Jen chose the (pink) grapefruit for her food color inspiration! While I’m not a fan of regular grapefruit, I do like some pink grapefruit at times. In fact, I think I would like one right now! Having been without taste or smell for a couple of weeks now I kind of want that pungent tasting grapefruit! To me the pink/red ones taste sweeter anyway.
I love pink so this is the pretty block I created.

I love the fact this block also has a, well actually TWO, stars in the center – one of the background and one of the pink. I have used Moda Grunge for all my blocks and silver for the backgrounds. My best tip is to tell you to spin the center of the stars so that center likes perfectly flat. If you don’t know how to do this, do a search on spinning seams. It is well worth the little extra time.

I did find a Grapefruit Marmalade recipe that sounds pretty good and only has two ingredients – grapefruit and sugar! You can find it Allrecipes.com.
Head on over to PBJ and pick up the free block pattern this month. It is available in 12 inch and 6 inch sizes. Jen has lots of tips and even a video if you need the help! And don’t forget to link up your block with her at the end of the month. There are some great prizes to be won!!
Please check out my fellow bloggers this month to see what they’ve created!

I like your version with the grunge and the gray. If I hadn’t already done my grocery shopping this morning, I would be picking up some pink grapefruit!
Hi Brenda!! Well, I never noticed that this block has TWO stars. Thank you for pointing that out! Love the fabrics you chose – the Grunge offsets each other so nicely. {{Hugs}} I hope your taste and smell do return like before. Sue has been without hers for over two years now. Happy October and Friday. ~smile~ Roseanne
That pink grunge with the touch of purple is perfect for this block. I could have used some of that with the fairies!
It is a beautiful block Brenda!! That silver is a stunning “neutral”. I hope you are feeling better and get those taste buds working. Sounds like you have had the dreaded virus.
