Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I posted, but I’m making my way back slowly! Since it’s almost mid-month, I thought I’d go ahead and post my September Color Challenge Block. The 2021 Color Challenge block of the month is hosted by Jen at Patterns by Jen! This month Jen chose the pineapple for her food color inspiration! Now I love pineapple, so this was a good one for me! And I have a recipe to share with you, as well! Here is my block!

It looks complicated but it really isn’t! I love it because it’s so different AND it has a star in it!!
My mother-in-law made a wonderful scalloped pineapple recipe every time we would visit them and it is still a favorite of mine today, though I don’t make it very much. I can’t find her original recipe, but this one sounds like it! So what is scalloped pineapple? Well…WONDERFUL!!

Notes: I added an extra half to cup of sugar, and used about 6 cups of bread cubes. If you like pineapple, you really should try this. I’m thinking I may need to make a version using Swerve instead of sugar.
Now that I’ve tempted your taste buds, head on over to PBJ and pick up the free block pattern. It is available in 12 inch and 6 inch sizes. She has lots of tips and even a video if you need the help! I’ll be a featured blogger next month, so I’ll be back on the 1st with my October challenge! And don’t forget to link up with Jen at the end of the month with your block. There are some great prizes to be won!!
Hi Brenda!! I adore pineapple. Yum, yum, YUM! I wonder how the recipe got its name?!! Your block is so cute . . . and I had to go give it a second look to see the star. How did I miss that?!! So glad you’re beginning to feel better and back into your routine. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
Yellow and gray are a great color combination. That is fun block. Pineapple is yummy!
Pretty block! As I was looking at it, I was hoping you would say it was “strip pieced and cut in sections”, and then I popped over to PBJ and saw that it was!! That makes things so easy!! I always laugh when people think blocks are HARD…when the techniques we all use can make them so easy. Interesting recipe. My dad loved Pineapple upside down cake for his birthday in September. I bet he would have enjoyed this too. Ahh memories of flavors! Be well.
Love your fun block. Your pineapple recipe looks really delicious! . Have a great week.
