Covering the World – One Quilt at a Time

by | Sep 8, 2023 | 6 comments

In June of 2023, AccuQuilt partnered with Island Batik and Baby Lock in a pay-it-forward campaign called “Covering the World: One Quilt at a Time.” AccuQuilt has been an industry partner with Island Batik for many years and I love their products and use them all the time. I also use a Baby Lock machine for embroidery and sewing! So this was a win-win for me.

Our challenge was to make a quilt, donate it to charity, and share it on Instagram using the hashtag #quilttheworld2023. If you would like to participate, you can find more information at this link. You have until December 31, 2023. It’s a simple challenge and will benefit someone in need. And did I mention, there is a give away also?!!

I will be donating the quilt I made for our August challenge, Sunny Rails a’la Pinwheels, and will be donating it to my guild, Birmingham Quilters Guild, as a part of our charity quilt program to be used where the chairperson sees fit. Our first meeting of the new year is Monday, so it will be given then.

You can read more about this quilt here. I used two precuts by Island Batik, a 10 inch stack of Bodacious Black and a 2-1/2 inch strip set of Opulent Orange, along with my AccuQuilt Mix and Match Qubes to cut the pieces for this quilt. I love how this turned out and hope that someone will find comfort in using it. I think it’s very cheerful!

Until next time…

Brenda, this is such a beautiful quilt. I think I would have a hard time letting it go, but it is so nice to hear that it will go to a worthy cause.

I love your quilt Brenda! You’ve given me an idea for my friendship stars quilt – I really like the chain you did in between.
