Hi everyone! Meet the new add-on for Electric Quilt! This new product was introduced on February 12th. If you love kaleidoscope blocks and paper piecing, you will love this new add-on. It is filled with 500+ new kaleidoscope blocks from which to choose.
I already own the first Kaleidoscope add-on and look forward to playing more with this one. The original had 500+ blocks, so now I have twice as many to play with! As an affiliate with Electric Quilt, I was given the opportunity to receive Kaleidoscope Two at no cost and to provide my review of the product.
EQ8 add-ons are easily installed as are their free monthly fabric collections. If you haven’t taken advantage of those collections, click HERE and see what’s available to download.
In return for receiving this add-on, we were to select a block from the 500+ blocks in the new Kaleidoscope Collection Two to sew, sew the block any size we choose, and post it on EQ’s blog post March 15th-16th. This is the block I chose.

I did pull in some gorgeous fabrics from a new Island Batik collection and recolored the block. That is another thing I love about EQ!! I can see exactly how my quilt will look using my chosen fabrics.
Electric Quilt also has Quilter’s Newsprint, non-smear, newsprint-type papers that feed easily through any inkjet or laser printer. They can be located HERE. I have not tried these yet.
REVIEW (Note this is my opinion only): Kaleidoscope Two add-on is an excellent addition to EQ8. There are 514 different blocks from which to choose. There is a large variety of styles including traditional twists, improv, stars, compasses, pinwheels, flowers, seasons, log cabins, and more. I even saw a block with hearts! It would be great for Valentine’s Day. You can choose from star-point corners or square corners and each produces a different secondary design effect. I had a great time going through all the blocks available and found it difficult to choose just one!! If you love traditional paper piecing or paperless (freezer paper) piecing, you will LOVE this new product!
Head over to the EQ website and check it out. I hope you will consider joining in the Sew and Tell on the DoYouEQ Blog. Click the link and find out all about it. They will be hosting a giveaway also. All the information can be found HERE.
