Keep calm, drink your Monday coffee, and sew on!! ☕️🧘 🧵
Happy Monday morning everyone. Welcome to Monday Musings…and August!! Has it been as hot in your area as it has here this past week? These 100+ heat indices have been awful here, especially with the humidity we have. I felt like the squirrel below most days! How’s your week been? Did you do a lot of stitching last week? Now, let’s move on to the good stuff!! But before we move on…I have no idea why my blog didn’t post last Monday. When I checked Tuesday there was a message that said it “failed to post.” Anyway, hopefully, this one will be back on track.
Here’s how my story ended for the week of 7/27/26- 8/2/26:
Continue stitching on Heather. DONE!! She is not completed yet as I ran out of a couple of threads and am waiting on them to come. I will have her finished by next week though!
Sew Day on Wednesday and hope to continue working on stockings. DONE!! Sew Day was fun, but I did not even start on my stockings. One of my sew buddies helped me get the Little Princess to running and I helped one of the others stitch together some baby blankets for Threads of Love that she participates in. She was purring like a sweet little kitten! I’m so happy to finally get to stitch with her.
Hopefully my project on the longarm will begin speaking to me. If not, I’ll do an all-over design, get her bound, and call it finished!! DONE!! She finally spoke, but you will have to wait until Wednesday to see the front but here is a glimpse of part of the back showing the quilting!
Whatever cranks my tractor! DONE!! My sew buddy and I took the Little Princess for a spa trip. I hope to get her back in tippy top condition in a couple of weeks. I spent a lot of time in prayer. My sweet Miss M has been recruited by Columbia University in NYC since 9th grade. She has also been heavily recruited by Yale. The family went on a tour of Columbia on Wednesday and Yale on Thursday. She did not like Columbia, said Yale was OK, but Auburn is still her favorite! YAY – prayers answered! I’m sure that sounds selfish but I can’t stand the thoughts of my only granddaughter being that far away from me! Of course, I wouldn’t want the boys that far away either.
Plans for the week of 8/3- 8/9/26:
Continue working on Heather!
Sew Day on Wednesday.
Work on stockings.
Maybe start my ByAnnie’s carrying bag for Little Princess. I think it will be much lighter than the case she came in. I’m using Tula Pink fabric – which I love!! Everything is finally here. I’ve been waiting on the base for the bottom and it arrived this past week, along with the companion pattern, Feathered Friends, that Annie created to go along with it!
Connie’s blog hop begins tomorrow. My day is Wednesday so come back then. I’ll share the schedule with you later in the post so you can find some more inspiration. Plus she’s having a fabric giveaway.
Whatever suits my fancy!!

Hi Brenda, it looks like things are getting back to normal with your machine. I’m really happy that your granddaughter will be staying close by. I love your yummy quilting and look forward to seeing it in the linking party 🙂
Fun to see all the goings on in your groups and blogs! So many colors and quilts. Congratulations on your relative (granddaughter?) getting into her choice of college. Such milestones, and as grandmothers, we hold our breath a lot and pray.
I resesnble that cat on the left most mornings! LOL. You had a great week, and I think Little Princess will love her new tote! What great news about your granddaughter too, and pretty impressive that those colleges are interested in her. Prayer is powerful!
I’m glad the quilt spoke to you (the quilting peak from the back looks lovely) and I look forward to seeing the full quilt on Wednesday. Have a great week!
So glad to see you back today… I never thought to check for your post later than my usual Monday at the crack of your dawn! Love the splooting squirrel pic. FYI — here’s the definition from Dictionary.com “(of dogs, cats, squirrels, etc.) to lie flat on the stomach with the hind legs extended fully out behind the body.” I forget where I learned the word but it matches your picture perfectly!
Thanks, Bonnie! You are the second person I’ve read today that used the word splooting! I’ve never heard it before, or if I have, I’ve forgotten! LOL Here in the south we would say that squirrel is flat out like a lizard drinking water! LOL Have a great week.

You are definitely back on track today, funny coffee meme and all! Can’t wait for Wednesday to see the front! I especially like the “bed sleeve” idea in the Feathered Friends pattern.
Luckily , we have not had the 100+ temps. yet. But the humidity is stifling. Auburn is a wonderful university. I wish your granddaughter all of the best . It looks like you have a good list of projects to work on this week. Enjoy every minute. Hugs.
Thank you, sweet friend! I think it’s a great school (though I’m a Bama fan!! LOL) and she will be happy there. She’s not a football fan, so I don’t have to change football teams! LOL Chicken Legs is an Aubie fan, so we are a house divided in that sense, though he does pull for Bama too. Have a great week. The temps are much nicer here this week…so far!

Ooh, that sneak peak of your quilting is intriguing! I am looking forward to seeing more!
