Monday Musings 9/2/24

Happy Monday everyone!!! Welcome to Monday Musings! I hope you all had a wonderful week. I’m trying to figure out where August went! Has anyone seen it??!!! At least for those here in the States we have a holiday today – Labor Day. Now, you would think we would work on Labor Day instead of having a holiday, huh?! On to the good stuff!

Here’s how my story ended for the week of 8/26 – 9/1/24:

  • Continue working on September IB challenge. Finish the final big block #4 and put it together. Hopefully get it on the quilt frame. PARTIALLY DONE!! I finished the big block and got the quilt put together except for the borders!

  • Clean/organize a little more maybe. DONE!! Got some more thread organized. I think I have WAY too much thread … and I never found that item put in the “safe place!” LOL
  • Whatever suits my fancy. Hopefully another sew day! Nope! We cancelled sew day this week as we kept our granddaughter and another member had a doctor’s appointment. Hopefully we will be able to meet this Wednesday!

For the week of 9/2 – 9/8/24 my plans are:

  • Clean a little in the studio if time permits!
  • Get the borders on my September IB challenge and get it quilted! The Island Batik September blog hop begins tomorrow! See my previous post HERE for the schedule!
  • Whatever suits my fancy!

Your new IB quilt is going to be gorgeous if it lives up to the sneak peeks we’ve been getting! Thank you for hosting us all again this week and for linking with To-Do Tuesday in advance.

Which thread do you use most for machine applique? Special needle in sewing machine? My machine started skipping stitches while using the blanket stitch and the satin stitch. I ordered Schmetz needles made for using fusible applique, they come tomorrow. I am anxious to try them out.

How do you achieve that thick applique-look on that block? It’s beautiful! I hope to get some sewing done today – way too many distractions lately. Have a great day Brenda!
