Hawaiian Shirt Baby Quilt

Hi everyone! As you may remember, I’ve been working away at a little baby quilt for a friend. I was able to deliver it last Sunday to our pastor’s wife.

This little quilt is made from pieces of her dad’s Hawaiian shirts. Just about every time I saw him, he was wearing a Hawaiian shirt – his favorite! She had had quilts made for her mom, herself and her brother and sister and had these left over. The other brother decided he didn’t want one as he does not like sentimental things! This quilt is for his daughter, who is expecting her first baby next month. They are so excited to be grandparents.

He is now an associate pastor at our parent church in Florida. This past Sunday was our homecoming so he came and led worship and also preached our homecoming sermon. He used to lead worship at our church before they moved to Florida, so it was great to be able to play and sing with him once again. Without further ado, here is the little quilt I made for the baby.

I love how this turned out. It’s pretty much just squares, HSTs, and QSTs and some fussy cutting of the shirts for the blocks. If you are interested, the quilting motif is from My Creative Stitches and is called Don Quixote!

The shower is this weekend in Florida, so they were able to take it back home with them for the shower! It was really fun to make! I hope she likes it. I’m sure it will hold a lot of sentimental value for her as she really loved her granddad.

That’s all for now. Until next time…
