Monday Musings 7/20/26

Happy Monday morning everyone. Welcome to Monday Musings. How’s your week been? We had a great one, though when you’re away it definitely goes too quickly! Did you do a lot of stitching last week? Now, let’s move on to the good stuff!!

Here’s how my story ended for the week of 7/13/26- 7/19/26:

  • Start on the next Highland Heifer – Ruby. DONE!! She isn’t finished, but I have stitched on her every day we were home.
  • If time, I’ll stitch some more blocks for the Feather & Flare project. DONE!! Not a lot of stitching this week, but here is another block I’m working on for this project!

  • Keeping the list very short this week as we are heading to the Gulf with some friends to enjoy some great, fresh, Gulf Coast seafood! DONE!! We had a great time except for the over hour delay heading down. There was a really bad accident that happened around 8:30 am and the interstate was completely shut down. We had to exit the interstate and go through a couple of small towns and the traffic was BAD!! But we made it, thankfully, without incident.
  • Whatever cranks my tractor! DONE!! On Monday we had our annual guild indoor end of year picnic and picked up a couple of kits for stockings for UAB/St. Vincent’s baby program. I was so happy to see my dear friend, June, who was my volunteer coordinator when I was the administrator of a new hospice start up years ago. She is a volunteer for the hospital for which we will be making the stockings for the babies born in December. I also designed a project for next year’s SAHRR and began working on my center block. You’ll have to wait until January to check it out!

Plans for the week of 7/13- 7/19/26:

  • Finish stitching my blocks for Connie’s Feather & Flare Blog Hop and hopefully get it stitched together and maybe on the frame??
  • Continue working on Ruby and hopefully move on to Heather!
  • Sew Day on Wednesday. We are going to work on hand-stitching some stocking decorations for a guild project our guild does every year. I’ll share pics when I have something to show!
  • Maybe work on RSC blocks if I finish the blog hop project?
  • Whatever suits my fancy!!

I’m glad that you had a nice beach vacation, despite the traffic. Also curious about your favorite seafood. I love shrimp and red snapper (blackened, of course).

I love blackened anything! LOL My favorites would be shrimp, scallops, and seafood gumbo! I love fried and blackened, but no so much just grilled. I like it spicy!

I hate it when problems on the freeways cause the local traffic to go crazy too. We can tell when our local freeway must have an accident or just slowing down by the number of cars on the major north south route near us. I definitely need pics of Ruby and Heather. That whole group of cows are just too, too cute. I like that they don’t look country like most wool applique appears. Have a productive week!

Thanks, Bonnie! I love those cows too! They just keep getting better with each month IMHO!! Interstates can be crazy. Yesterday we were going from one exit to the next after church, to meet the kids for lunch and before we got two miles (of a four mile trek!) the interstate was shut down on both sides, north and southbound. It took us nearly an hour to go four miles. Of course it was raining and that makes it worse.

Like Vicki, I’m curious what your favorite seafood is. I’m also glad you were able to get home safely. That block is a pretty one. My squirrels have been much too quiet here, so maybe I can crank them up this week.

Thanks, Wendy. Fried or blackened shrimp, scallops, and gumbo! I like some blackened fish but it has to be a mild one! Hey, go chase those squirrels!!

Sorry about that accident, it must have been major if they rerouted you:( Can’t wait to see Ruby’s finish! What is your favorite seafood?

Unfortunately it was a really bad accident with at least one fatality we heard. We talked to some of the ALDOT folk when we got rerouted and they said whatever happened it damage a bridge. They said it would be shut down indefinitely, but it was open on the way home, thankfully. My favorites are fried or blackened shrimp, scallops and seafood gumbo! Ruby is adorable!! Stay tuned!

Thanks, Linda. We had a really great time. It was good to get away for a few days. Chicken Legs has been in the midst of a big install at work, so he really needed the break.

The red fabric made me think strawberries. It is a lovely summer block. Sounds like you had a wonderful week. Here’s to another wonderful week.
