Hello! Happy Fall Y’all!! I don’t know about you, but I’m so glad we have finally gotten a little reprieve from the heat. Today we even had a little much-needed rain. I love fall when the leaves begin turning gorgeous colors and then, unfortunately, they fall! Today we are going to talk about our Island Batik / AccuQuilt challenge for October – Falling for AccuQuilt!
In July, we received a BOB (block on board) die from AccuQuilt to use in this month’s challenge. It is the North Carolina Star die.

This BOB makes a beautiful block…and it has 56 (yes, you heard that correctly!!) pieces to it! This die allows you to cut all 56 pieces for the block at one time. That is the beauty of BOBs – you can cut all the pieces for one block in one pass through the cutter! AccuQuilt has a lot of beautiful BOBs. You can check them all out here.
Our challenge was to use this die to make our blocks this month. We could use the entire die, or parts of the die to create a different block. I made the center of my project using the North Carolina Star BOB as shown. I then used the pieces cut with the die and came up with two different blocks that will be shown in my wall hanging.
In our July boxes, I received a 10-inch precut of Earthly Greens along with two 2-yard cuts of coordinating fabrics – the green is Celery and the brown is Sable. The fabrics in this collection are so rich and they just scream fall to me! I also used a couple of strips from the stash builder rolls we received in our boxes to go along with the fabrics I chose from Earthly Greens. Mustard was used as well for the strips.

And without further ado, here is Color Me Fall!

Thanks for visiting today. I hope you all have a wonderful rest of your week! See you soon. Until then…
Love your different blocks (I’m eliminating those center quarter squares too) and the added sashing to make it all fit! You definitely took the FALL!
Oh wow, Brenda! These blocks are amazing and it is interesting how different the blocks look depending on the fabrics and placement. They certainly say fall to me. Well done.
That is a LOT of pieces in a block – but very fallish looking ( I was going to say cool… but I think warn would be better!! haha)
Wow! Awesome block, especially with Accu Quilt providing precise cutting. How was putting it together? Just as easy or more demanding?
That is a fall quilt, alright! I like the new blocks you created. They all look just right together. Have a great day!
Beautiful fabrics and quilt Brenda! I love fall colors also and like you we are getting a little rain today. 56 pieces! Wow!
Your quilt scream Fall ! I love it!
Brenda those precuts are gorgeous, and I love your quilt! That die made very pretty blocks. Looks like you enjoyed yourself. 🙂
That quilt screams Fall/Autumn! Wow, fantastic job, Brenda. I love this time of year too. Cooler temps, International Balloon Fiesta is going on here, and the colors and crispness in the air.
I love the way you used the North Carolina die to give you such interesting blocks. The fall colors are awesome and the offset frames really help display the blocks. Congrats on another beauty!
Hi Brenda, Your quilt is Stunning!! You came up with some awesome blocks to use in your quilt!
