Let your Monday be caffeinated and your goals lofty ☕🌟

Happy Monday morning!!! Welcome to Monday Musings! I hope you have all had a great week. I really need that HUGE cuppa this morning! Late night Saturday night with Miss M’s dance recital. This was the last one for Mrs. Joy. She is retiring after 46 years of having her dance company. It’s sad for us, since my daughter also danced with Joy from 5th or 6th grade through her first year of college, so it’s been a tradition in our family. We are very happy for her to be able to retire, and to pass the baton on to one of her other teachers. We aren’t sure what the new dance company will be called but Miss M will be right there. She is on the highest level team and just loves the three large competitions each year. This was her 13th year – girl’s been dancing since age 3! Of course there is the tradition of a pose with her and Peeps. Then let’s move on to the good stuff!!

Here’s how my story ended for the week of 4/28- 5/4/25:
- Press the quilt top and get it on the frame and hopefully start quilting it. DONE!! It is completely quilted. Just need to trim and bind it and it’s ready to go!
- Cut out May IB Irish Chain challlenge project. PARTIALLY!! I cut 144 of one fabric and 72 each of two alternating fabrics for the four-patch blocks, in addition to 12 of Block 1. Just need to cut Block 2.
- Start stitching my Irish Chain project, hopefully at Sew Day with my quilty friends. DONE!! I stitched 72 four-patch blocks, partially at Sew Day and finished up at home!
- Whatever cranks my tractor! DONE!! My tractor was running at full speed this week! I made it to Sew Day Wednesday. Then Saturday night was the recital! Plus the above fun!
Plans for the week of 4/27 – 5/5/25:
- Trim and bind quilt for youth fundraiser.
- Finish cutting out Irish Chain Block 2.
- Stitch blocks for Irish Chain.
- Hopefully get borders cut for Irish Chain.
- Gather items for guild yard sale. Other than that, pretty much my life is Irish Chain this week!
- Whatever suits my fancy!
Here is some quilty inspiration shared last week!

Hi Brenda. Love the dance pose photo! One of my granddaughters had a dance competition this weekend. She was awarded High Gold for Ballet, Gold for Jazz and Diamond for Contemporary. This Nana is busting apart with pride! On the sewing side of life I’ve managed some stitching time and am back to getting some on line time to visit, link and comment! Life is good! 😉
Loved the picture of your granddaughter and her Peeps! So glad for your granddaughter that the dance studio that she has gone to for so many years will continue under on of the studio dance teachers. Looks like you have had a busy week as always. Happy Cinco De Mayo!
Love that photo of granddaughter and grandpa! Did you say that’s a tradition? It would be fun to see some of the other ones you’ve taken of them over the years! Good luck with your Irish Chain sewing this week. I’m looking forward to seeing your project as I’ve been toying with the idea of starting an Irish Chain project of my own. I don’t have the AccuQuilt Irish Chain BOB die but I was thinking of using AccuQuilt strip dies in conjunction with an older Quilt In A Day book pattern from back when rotary cutting was the latest, greatest quilt cutting technology! 🙂
Love that photo of your granddaughter with her grandpa! Her dance history is impressive. Congrats to the retiring teacher, but I’m sure she will be missed.
That’s a great dance photo. I hope you all have a great week 🙂
I hope that Miss M’s dance recital went well. I am sure she will miss Mrs. Joy especially since she has been in the dance program so long. You made great progress on your goals. I look forward to seeing your Irish chain quilt. Have a fabulous week, Brenda. Hugs.
