Monday Musings 6/29/26

by | Jun 29, 2026 | 6 comments

Happy Monday morning everyone. Welcome to Monday Musings. My “kinda” week from before turned into a better one this past week! The meme today reminds me of when I first became a nurse and was working 7PM to 7AM shifts. It was brutal when you are accustomed to sleeping at night and working during the day. We all really wanted coffee IVs during those shifts! I hope y’all had a great week and got a lot of fun stitching time in. Now, let’s move on to the good stuff!!

Here’s how my story ended for the week of 6/22/26- 6/28/26:

  • Finish the granny block. Maybe cut out another one. DONE!! Well, I got one completed but have not cut out another one!

  • Put away embroidery threads used in Peaceful Village at Sunshine Cove. DONE!! In addition to the project box full of thread for Sunshine Cove I had two other plastic shoe boxes full of thread I had used for other projects. They are now all empty and I have room on my side table again! YAY!
  • Begin catching up on RSC blocks. DONE!! I got the pink blocks finished for March.

  • Make post of quilts from QuiltFest. NOPE!! I’ll try to add it this week!
  • Whatever suits my fancy!! DONE!! Wednesday was Sew Day with Friends and we had a good time, as always. I digitized a new name tag for our annual guild picnic in July. I’ll share a photo next week after I stitch it out. On Saturday we met up with all the kiddos (and parents) for lunch and enjoyed our time together. We haven’t been able to do that in a while as they are always on the go! Miss M told me about all the colleges she is receiving letters of interest from and one that she has not even thought about applying to that sent a letter and said she was automatically enrolled next fall with a $24,000 scholarship! It is in Wyngate, NC, though, so likely not one she is interested in. She also had a letter of interest from Yale. She’s still trying to decide between medical pharmaceutical research and becoming an MD. She has a couple of years yet to make up her mind.

Plans for the week of 6/29- 7/6/26:

  • Finish Americana Sampler and get it mounted and in the frame. We went to Michael’s Saturday and found what I needed to finish it.
  • Work on RSC blocks.
  • Start on the next Highland Heifer – Elsie.
  • Clean and organize a little more in the studio.
  • Write the QuiltFest post.
  • Whatever cranks my tractor!

Wow your granddaughter must be pleased with all the attention from colleges. I know she’ll have a hard time making up her mind when the time comes. Thanks for the reminder about Sewcialites 3. I need some 6″ blocks to add to some I already have and this is the perfect place to find some. And, bonus, I’ve already downloaded all of them. Many thanks for having an answer to my unasked question!

I am not sure if I knew you were a nurse. I bet that was hard doing the night shift! Love the granny square block. Miss M has a big goal for her future-way to go!!

Your Granny block is a neauty, I look forward to seeing more! You’ve had a good week, I think, with quilting and quality time with family!

I like your Granny block and good luck to Miss M with deciding on a college. It sounds like she is set to do really well wherever she chooses 🙂
