Happy Monday morning everyone. Welcome to Monday Musings. Well, it’s been a week here and the above meme and quote pretty much say it all! In the middle of putting Sunshine Cove together, we had a bad storm blow through and were without power for over six hours. That really messed up my mojo and threw me off schedule. We had a couple of lanterns we batteried up and just as we were about to do like the “old folk” and go to bed in the dark, the lights came back on, but too late to start something. I hope you all had a great week and got a lot of fun stitching time in. Now, let’s move on to the good stuff!!
Here’s how my story ended for the week of 6/1/26- 6/7/26:
- Finish stitching together The Village at Sunshine Cove. DONE!! Note to self: ALWAYS measure twice and cut once! Well, I usually do this BUT, I got interrupted while trimming the sashing and cut two pieces and RECUT those same two pieces, which meant I had to go back to the embroidery machine and quilt two more sashing strips. This threw another wrench in my timeline – you know 👆 Murphy’s law! 🤦♀️🤪😒
- Bind and make a sleeve for Sunshine Cove. DONE!! Working on hand stitching the binding and sleeve down and adding the label. She WILL be ready to hang on Tuesday!!
- Make hanging sleeves for the other three quilts for the show. DONE!! I used a tutorial from We All Sew on Easy DIY Quilt Hanging Sleeve – Almost Entirely by Machine! Using this tutorial, they were not too bad to make and add to the quilts.
- Make labels for all four quilts. DONE!!
- Hopefully start working on Elsie, the next Highland Heifer or the Patriotic 250th Birthday Wool Sampler! DONE!! One evening I printed off the Americana Wool Sampler pattern and got the pieces printed on the Steam-a-Seam Lite 2, cut out, and clipped to the appropriate wool – ready to iron on and cut.
- Whatever suits my fancy! DONE!! That truly was enough!
Plans for the week of 6/8- 6/15/26:
- Guild show Friday and Saturday. If any of you live in the southeast we welcome you to our show. I guarantee you, there will be lots of fun and inspiration!

I’m go glad you were able to finish stitching together The Village at Sunshine Cove even given all the extra challenges along the way! I’ll actually be visiting my parents in Tennessee this weekend and I did glance at how far away it would be to hop down to say hi, but I think it’s too far given my nieces are coming over for a visit, too. Have a great show!
You were still able to get so much done, despite the power outage, Brenda! Best wishes for your quilt show. I’d love to go, if it were close. Looking forward to your review.
Sorry to hear about your power cut but you’ve still got lots done. Your show looks fantastic. I hope you will post photos for those of us far away 🙂
Despite the setbacks you got a lot done. Have fun at the guild show.
