Welcome friends! Today I will present to you my block for April for the 2021 Monthly Color Challenge hosted by Jen of Patterns by Jen! This month the challenge was the color red and the food item was cherries! One of my twin grandsons absolutely loves cherry pie! And, so did my grandmother. We used to have it often when I was growing up, so I can safely say, I love it too!!
Here is my block for this month’s challenge. I chose a deep cherry red for my block along with my background of silver grunge.

Jen invited us to share a recipe as well as our blocks! So I searched for a quick and easy cherry pie recipe in honor of my grandmother, who taught me to sew, and found this on Pillsbury.
Their recipe called for 1 tsp of milk instead of butter, but, hey, I’m from the south – everything’s better with butter! LOL Do you like cherry pie?
If you are joining in the fun and prizes available on PBJ (there are some great prizes!) be sure and link up your block by the end of the month. The pattern for this block is free during April. I’m linking up with Jen today and you can too – just click the link!
Hi Brenda, Your block is fabulous! It would be great in a patriotic quilt. Your cherry pie recipe sounds so good and so quick and simple too. I do love simple and quick too. Have a great week.
What a terrific block!!! Funny about the milk…guessing that was to brush the pie crust before sprinkling on a little sugar so it would brown and the sugar would stick. I agree butter is best! 🙂
