Hello friends! I hope you are well and ready for the weekend! After this week, I know I am. First, I want to thank all of you who offered prayers for us during Wednesday’s tornado outbreak. NWS is still inspecting damage and determining the scale of the tornadoes, but there were around 20 or more statewide last I heard. My hometown about 30 miles south of us was pummeled. At one point, three separate tornadoes across the county at the same, side by side. It was crazy. We were blessed not to have any damage, just a few limbs down and lots of rain. Our state was blessed in that there were no fatalities though some lost homes and there were a few minor injuries. God is good!
For this month’s color challenge Jen, of Patterns by Jen, gave us the color red-orange and the vegetable is the yam. In the south, we call yams sweet potatoes. Here, they are pretty much interchangeable. Jen invited us to share a favorite recipe if we had one and I will do that after the block. My block for March is below. I decided to use silver grunge as the second color in all my blocks!

You can get the pattern, which is free during March, at the Patterns by Jen website.
One of my family’s favorite sides is sweet potato casserole. I could eat it as dessert, it is SEW good!! Here is my recipe.
Go ahead and get this block while it’s free, even if you choose not to stitch it right now. You might want it at some point in the future! I’ll be linking up with her linky party for March!
Thanks again for all those who sent prayers and good thoughts for our state during the storms. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. Let me know if you try my recipe!
Good morning, Brenda! Oh, your block is just perfect for sweet potatoes! And the recipe sounds yummy, too. I love all forms of sweet potatoes but my newest fetish is fries. Oven baked is just as good as deep fried – yum. Thanks for sharing the recipe. ~smile~ Roseanne
