Happy Tuesday!! I can’t believe this month is almost over! But before we dig out the turkey fryer, let’s share a little spooky-ooky fun on the Peek A Who Blog Hop hosted by Marian at Seams to be Sew!
Please visit Marian’s site for a ***FREE*** pattern she is giving away each day! Today is a cute little monster – so hop on over and grab it, and visit her each day for a new one! She is also sponsoring the giveaway for a 50% off coupon for Calibre Arts cutting mats. So enter that drawing as well! I have my eye on that 18 x 18 rotating mat!! I’ve done some research on these mats and the one thing that REALLY stood out to me was the fact that they don’t have that “new mat” odor!! I’m sure you know what I mean, but for those of you who don’t, I’ll borrow a phrase from an old song, “You got your dead skunk in the middle of the road…stinkin’ to high heaven!!” A bit of trivia about that song – I always thought Arlo Guthrie (who did one of my other fave’s Alice’s Restaurant!!) did this song – but it was actually Loudon Wainwright III! They do sound a bit alike – at least to me. OK – we’ll quit chasing those oldie goldie squirrels and get back to our fun topic at hand! Darn squirrels!!! Some of them can be fun though!! LOL So if you’d like a chance to win a 50% off coupon for one of these non stinky mats, please head over to Marian’s blog post for Monday and register after you visit today’s bloggers!
This hop started Monday, the 22nd and will end on Friday the 26th. There are great prizes for which you can register each day from The Fat Quarter Shop, Timeless Treasures, and Calibre Art Mats! Here is the schedule for the week!

Now … to my project for Peek A Who! I don’t like scary, spooky so I decided to do a whimsical! When I was growing up in the country, houses were a little farther apart than in subdivisions. If we wanted to go trick-or-treating, my mom or aunt would drive us into town. But the most fun was when the “neighborhood” kids would have a hay ride. We’d all pile on the back of a truck, or tractor and trailer and just ride around. We would stop at a few houses and get some candy too. Sometimes we would have a wiener roast or some of the parents would make us goodies! Lots of fun and good memories!! So with those happy childhood times in mind, I decided on my project! Meet The Boo Crew!!
This is my drawing in EQ8. I found some fab-u-lous spider web fabric that was all glittery and decided to use it as the background and along with some scraps from my stash and a little extra fabric that just screamed, “pick me, pick me!” and I put together my flimsy, which really LOVED sitting on the windshield of my ‘stang!! I think they are ready for a F-A-S-T road trip!! LOL
And the crew enjoyed resting beneath the trees, as well!
And here is my finished quilt! I’m not sure who was more afraid and surprised – the ghost, the owl, or the pumpkins!!! Meet Kasper the ghost, Batty, Frankie, Witchy and Twitchy, the pumpkins, and Spooky the owl!! They are enjoying a leisurely hayride on a Halloween night! And I am releasing this pattern today! It’s on sale until 10/29/18, and you can find it in my store here. Since the outer border was that beautiful purple spiderweb fabric, I just had to quilt it with hanging spiders!! This picture really doesn’t do it justice, but you get the idea! I quilted around the appliques so they would stand out more and quilted my favorite swirls and curls in the background fabric. The green “grass” was quilted with topsy turvy pumpkins!
If you are shopping for fabric for this project, Connecting Threads has their Spooky Night fabric collection on clearance right now! All their thread cones and sets, as well as sewing and quilting tools are 30% off!! Check them out! PLUS, there’s an additional 20% of EVERYTHING (except gift cards, downloadable items, previous orders, or back-ordered merchandise!) by using the code CHEERS at checkout! So hurry on over and do some shopping because this code turns into a ghost and disappears at 11:59 PM on 10/28/18!!

Loved the pumpkins that you quilted in your quilt.
Hayrack rides being pulled by the big ole tractor are the best and so is your quilt. Adorable; it’s super that you didn’t do scary.
An adorable quilt. Reminds me of a fun hayride in my youth!
Cute row – love the Boo Crew design.
A very sweet quilt. I always enjoyed hay rides.

Elizabeth, Silverdale, WA
Thanks for sharing your memories. Much nicer than spooky scary stuff. Love your spider quilting.
What an awesome Halloween Quilt Brenda. I adore that little cat, mostly hidden under that hat wondering why his oh so warm and comfy bed is rolling along? You did an exceptional job, as always. Thanks for the info on where we can go to enter to win, I sure could use some nice purple fabric, for my taste you can never have enough purple in your stash.
I don’t mind spiders, but please NO snakes. I tend to disappear (one of my magic powers) if anyone even mentions those vile critters though I know some people love them. They’re just not for me.
I’ve never heard the song you’re referring to, not sure if that’s good or not, hmmmm. I’m a big Ray Stevens fan, at least his funny songs are dear to me. Sorry to say I’m not familiar with the artist who sings it, though I do enjoy Arlo.
Off to enter the contests. Thanks for being You, which I know makes many people very happy.
What fun! This would be a perfect project for a gift. Thank you for sharing and creating a pattern.
So cute!
Your little quilt is perfect!! The tractor is the right color!!

Oh my gosh…is that just the cutest thing? I love that little tractor and it’s precious cargo. Oh, and how I remember “Dead Skunk” and singing it at the top of my lungs when it came of the radio. LOL!!! Does that date us or what?

Oh, that is gorgeous! I love the background you picked and the quilting in that border, too. Such cute, personable pumpkins and characters. Thank you so much for sharing! I love Alice’s Restaurant and the photo graphs with lines and arrows on the back! I also love my Calibre mats. That rotating mat is the best one ever, so smooth and perfect as it turns. You won’t be sorry if you get that one. Ah, hay rides!
