Pick a Pumpkin!

by | Nov 6, 2018 | 71 comments

Today is my day to participate in the Pick a Pumpkin Blog Hop hosted by Carla of Creatin’ in the Sticks! Thank you, Carla, for pulling all the bloggers together and allowing us to show our punkin’ colors!!

I chose to incorporate my love for embroidery into this hop and digitized a couple of designs to use. I will also share a couple of recipes with you as well.

For my pumpkin picking, I decided to embroider a kitchen towel. The inspiration for this design was in a bundle of fall art work I purchased. I decided to make the pumpkin and leaf applique instead of a fill.  I also stitched a “recipe card” to another towel. I was going to write a recipe on this, but decided to let the winner (oh – did I mention there is a giveaway?!! ?) write a recipe of their liking – just in case they wanted to gift it to someone.

I purchased these towels last year for a craft show and stitched a LOT of Christmas towels and these recipe towels. The Pumpkin Spice design can be purchased in my shop here.

Then I decided I “needed” a new fall candle wrap. I digitized this for flameless candles. I have a lot of candle wraps on my website. This one is a little different from the others and I’m really liking it!! It is available for purchase in my shop here.

Here is it is in action!!

And here are two recipes I found for those pumpkin lovers amongst us. In all honesty, I’m not a huge pumpkin fan, but these recipes sound so good I may just give them a try. Or I may try them with my favorite fall (and really anytime!) vegetable – sweet potatoes!!

And now for the giveaway!

If you would like a chance to win the two kitchen towels and the candle wrap (due to shipping costs, not the candle!), complete the rafflecopter form below! This is open to everyone! Even international visitors! Good luck to you all!! At midnight on 11/11/18 this contest will turn into – well –  how about a pumpkin! The winner will be chosen at random by rafflecopter.

I used to make pumpkin pies from the pumpkins I grew in my garden! They were so good, I spoiled all other pumpkin pies for my step-son! I do, however, have a recipe for sweet potato souffle that I make all the time for my dad (I make 3 casseroles at a time and put 2 in the freezer).

Thanks for sharing your talents and your wonderful pumpkiny goodies. Those recipes sound terrific! My favorite pumpkin thing, before I try these two, is pumpkin pie. Boring and traditional, but so delicious! I don’t have the embroidery machine, or I’d definitely be trying that pumpkin wrap idea!

I can see that you’re a great digitizer. Wonderful designs. Thank you for the recipes, too. The Pumpkin Cheesecake pie sounds delicious. My husband’s favorite pie is pumpkin and I tried many, many pies as a young wife trying to find just the right one. Finally, I found one in a newspaper or a magazine and that’s the one I make now. Getting the spices to your liking (or your husband’s liking) is key.
