I finally have my round six completed and everything stitched together into a flimsy! YAY!
I couldn’t decide what I wanted to do with the fifth prompt from Emily of The Darling Dogwood, which was square in a square blocks, so I decided to hold off until I learned what round six would be. The round six prompt from Gail at Quilting Gail was for pinwheels!! I love pinwheel blocks. They remind me of my childhood pinwheels, and just make me happy, in general!
First I decided on the layout for round five, the square in a square blocks, and then got busy on round six. So without further ado, here is my completed flimsy!
I wish I had a ton more of that sunflower and checkerboard fabric, but unfortunately, it was just a 5″ by width of fabric strip from one of the stash builder bundles. Since I used left over fabric from Island Batik projects, some of the half-yard bundles, and stash builder rolls, there’s really no rhyme or reason to my color scheme, BUT it makes me happy when I look at it! I look forward to playing with some ruler work and free motion quilting on this one!
I hope you all have a great week! I’m linking up with Gail for this week’s linky party! Until next time…
Your SAHRR is looking fantastic!
Thanks for linking to SAHRR #6!
Thank you, Gail! I’ve had a lot of fun with this one! Thank you for hosting each year!
Brenda, this is a beautiful finish. I love all your blocks. I can check if I have any of that sunflower/checkerboard fabric. I certainly remember seeing it somewhere in my IB fabrics in the last two years.
Thank you, Preeti! This was a fun SAHRR! Don’t go to any trouble, but if you should find some of that fabric I would love to purchase it from you!! Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
I really love your quilt top! It is so amazing. Someday I’ll have to get brave enough to try a Round Robin myself.
Doreen, you really should try it! I love receiving the prompts each week and trying to get them done on time! I don’t always make it, but I try! I love that it’s design as you go too! And if you miss one week, you can always catch up. I hope you’ll join us for the next one!
I love how you are placing blocks along the corners of the quilt So much interest. Well done, Brenda
Thank you, Melisa! I am pleased with it and I think I’ll like it more if my quilting is successful! LOL
Your SAHRR turned out very well. It’s hard to put so many things together, and using scraps and leftovers can be limiting, but I’d say all of yours rose to the challenge and make a great piece. Have fun quilting!
Thank you! Well, I am blessed that Island Batik has been awesome in supplying us with fabrics and we seem to have a decent amount of “scraps” (I hate to call them that! LOL) left after our projects. SAHRR has been so much fun.
I love the way this is turning our. Hooray for getting it done! I should have it pieced together by the end of the week! It will be fun to see how you quilt it. I am thinking of using border motifs in mine but haven’t quite settled on it.
On another note, have a dark red and light red checkerboard IB if you are ever in need. I don’t think it works with this quilt…its probably a yard of each.
Thank you for your sweet comment and offer of the red checkerboard IB. I’ll definitely keep that in mind! I just really love this sunflower in the blue and pale green-yellow! Have fun with completing your SAHRR and quilting it!
So pretty Brenda! I like the placement of your weekly pieces – has a Jen Kingwell-ish vibe to it.
Your quilt looks happy. Brilliant work!
