To-Do #1 in 2021!

by | Jan 5, 2021 | 9 comments

This is the first Tuesday To-Do of 2021! A new year, a new plan, that hopefully doesn’t get derailed by Covid! I just got off a zoom “retreat” with some blogging friends and I got quite a bit done – almost half the quilt blocks I need! It was a fun and productive day. These bloggers stitched along today:

Carole – https://frommycarolinahome.com/
Mary Ellen – https://mefutch.wordpress.com/
Mary – https://stitchinggrandma.wordpress.com/
Brenda – https://songbirddesigns.blog/blog
Emily – thedarlingdogwood.blogspot.com

I thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Carole, Mary Ellen, Mary, and Emily…even if it was by computer!! On to my progress from last week!

  • Finish quilting block 5 of Sunshine Cove. – not only did it get quilted, but the center is complete and stitched in place!!
  • Start and hopefully finish the center of said block 5! – see above!
  • Write blog post for My Stitching Resolution Blog Hop on the 30th. – done. That post is here.
  • Make a list of all UFOs from this year – more about that in another post! – done – I’ll be working on my PHD in 2021!

I’ve had a good week, if I do say so myself! For the week of 1/4 – 1/10/21, I want to:

  • Complete January block for the 2021 Monthly Color Challenge hosted by Patterns by Jen. Link in side bar.
  • Decide on “scraps/stash fabrics” for January project for the Table Scraps Challenge in conjunction with the Rainbow Scrap Challenge hosted by The Joyful Quilter.
  • Start preparing fabrics and cut appliques for Month 6 of Sunshine Cove.

Well, that will definitely keep me busy for a while, especially since school/carline starts back tomorrow, and I have a dental appointment on Thursday, so not much will get done that day. What are you working on this week?

I answer all comments via email. Please spread the love about my blog!

That block is beautiful! I love how you are using machine embroidery with quilting. I am such a novice at machine embroidery, and seeing a project like this is a real treat. I so enjoyed getting together on the “zoom retreat”. Great start to the new year.

Your block is amazing. I take it that it is removable in the bigger setting which frames it so well. The machine stitching, applique and colors are so beautiful together. What a great project. Where did you find this to complete?

I love your Sunshine Cove block – it’s so pretty. What an interesting world we live in now, when we can attend a retreat via Zoom. 😀

I seem to always be working on UFO, except when I get excited about something else and start that! I guess my biggest stumbling block is piecing backing. It was nice to meet you at the Zoom Retreat. I did get so much done!

You’ve done very well! I haven’t pulled out my UFO list yet; maybe I can tackle that tomorrow. Sunshine Cove sure is pretty!

Your sunshine cove quilt is fantastic! And I love the quilt on your banner too. I have a similar pattern I wanted to start last weekend but had to restrain myself until I finish some UFOs. How do you have a quilt retreat on Zoom?

Hi Brenda! Oh, I’m so glad you’re back to the Sunshine Cove blocks – I’ve missed them. The look like such a friendly place to live – it reminds me of a series of books that took place in a Cove, and now you’re bringing the town to life. Two of my goals are the same as yours this week – color block and RSC (for the first time). Thanks for linking up today. ~smile~ Roseanne
