ACHIEVEMENT!
Almost everyone I know seems to be choosing a word for the year! Instead of resolutions, which always fall by the wayside it seems, I decided that I too would choose a word for the year. After much thought about things I wanted to see come to fruition this year, the word I decided upon for 2019 is achievement!
a·chieve·ment
/əˈCHēvmənt/
noun
noun: achievement; plural noun: achievements
1. a thing done successfully, typically by effort, courage, or skill.synonyms: attainment, realization, accomplishment, fulfillment, implementation, execution, performance

2. the process or fact of achieving something.
for example, “the achievement of professional recognition”
2018 was a year of learning and growing for me. It was my first full year of blogging and I’ve met so many wonderful friends along the way. Even though we’ve never actually met in person, I feel, through their blogs and photos, that we’ve been friends a long time. And, we are “cyber-friends!”
This is going to be a busy year! Our guild’s quilt show, QuiltFest 2019, is in June. And though it will be a busy time, we will have a lot of fun – and meet many new friends. I will be in charge of the Opportunity Shop, a place where quilters can purchase tickets and bid on exciting baskets full of quilty goodness! And there will be lots of beautiful quilts to see! In 2017, there were over 300 quilts displayed. Talk about inspiration!! If you are anywhere near Birmingham, AL June 14-15, 2019, please visit with us. You can find directions on the Birmingham Quilters Guild website. I will provide more information closer to QuiltFest!
Another major achievement that I need to work on is the donation quilt for the guild for next year. This is due in July. I am happy to say I’ve decided on a pattern and purchased the fabric, so that is underway!
Blog hops. What can I say? I LOVE participating in blog hops – meeting more new blogging friends, learning new techniques, getting inspired by the beautiful creations of others participating!
Overall, I just want to get more done this year! I have several kits and BOMs I purchased that are sitting in my cabinet waiting for me to start and finish! Maybe I can get a couple of those done. It’s hard to not buy new, fresh, bright, cheery fabric lines, but I will try to NOT add to my stash!! Try being the operative word here! LOL We will see how that goes!
And finally, using the word “courage” mentioned in the definition above, I hope to get up the nerve to submit a quilt to a magazine and see how that goes. At the very least, hopefully get some positive feedback on things I can improve. Again, we’ll see how that goes!
So what is YOUR word of the year, and what do you hope to achieve in 2019? I’d love to know!
Happy New Year!
This new year, may all your dreams turn into reality, and all your efforts into great achievements!
Sounds like a great anthem to welcome in the New Year. I hope your Year of Achievement exceeds all your goals. 🙂
Those are good words for sure1 It’s good to have goals. I’m still working on mine, but I do have a few things on my list.
