August Hot Stuff Challenge with Oliso!

by | Aug 6, 2025 | 14 comments

Welcome!! Island Batik partnered with Oliso for this fun, creative project! Oliso, one of Island Batik’s industry partners, sent us an iron cover when they sent our Oliso Pro Mini irons in our January boxes. If you don’t own one of these Mini Pro irons, you need to! They are lightweight yet produce great heat for all our pressing matters! Head over to Oliso and check them out. They have pretty colors…AND a HEADLIGHT!! And, now you can get the covers in orange, aqua, coral, pistachio, and raspberry to match the irons!

Our challenge: “Give your iron cover a fabulous makeover! In the Hot Stuff Challenge you will “Glitz-Up” your carry bag. You get to transform your plain iron carry bag into a creative masterpiece using any techniques you like – quilting, embroidery, appliqué, painting, buttons or even a mix of them all! Show off your unique style, experiment with colors and textures, and make your iron cover as bold or elegant as you like. Whether you go for fun and funky or sleek and sophisticated, the goal is to create something that sparks inspiration every time you press!”

For my decorations I decided to digitize some leaves and flowers, along with a butterfly and a pink ladybug! I stitched them out on water soluble stabilizer, with an 80/12 Schmetz needle, and rinsed away the stabilizer after stitching. I also made some fabric patches and ragged out the edges, as I did with a couple of the flowers I stitched out. I found some fun buttons in my stash to add as well. And here is my tricked out iron cover!!

I used scraps of pretty Island Batik fabric to make these little designs. It’s hard to tell from the photo, but the antennae on the ladybug and butterfly are freestanding. I used hot glue to attach them to the cover.

Thanks to Oliso, Island Batik, and Schmetz needles for supplying the materials used in this project!

I hope you will mosey on over to my fellow ambassadors sites as they share their creative iron covers during the month of August.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you have a great week! Until next time…

You really had fun with this! Have you had an M2Pro? I see it comes with a soleplate but no light. The light would be really nice though. Michael’s has both on sale, so I’ll have to think about it!

How fun to decorate the iron case. But was it difficult to do since it’s a case already made? Did you hand sew or glue on the applique pieces? It looks great, Brenda!
