Sandra of MMM Quilts is having a fun quilt along. All you need to do to participate is purchase her pattern and pick out some great fabrics! The blocks may look complicated, but Sandra’s instructions are great! So head over to her blog and pick up the pattern from her link. In addition to the houses, there will also be trees, hearts, and pinwheels. The pattern instructions include both a throw size and a twin quilt size.
My plan is to use my left over fabrics from my Island Batik projects to make my houses. I love how the different collections of Island Batik play so well together!! I had some 4 1/2″ hourglass blocks left over from the SAHRR quilt, and cut them down to use in the quilt block in the house. They really don’t look like hourglass blocks because I chose the same print for the squares in this block! I think it gives it a unique look. And here, without further ado, is my first block!

I’ll be joining Sandra’s linky party and hope you will also come and play along! I promise to TRY to keep up. I think I’m behind one block already, but this is the first linkup! Until next time…
Happy Quilting!
Brenda

So pretty!!! And what a beautiful block! You are right, it does not look like an hourglass at all.
I love this! IB scraps are perfect for this QAL!
What a pretty house your batiks made! Nice job!
Brenda I love your block. But then how can you not love anything made with IB fabrics?
Hi Brenda! This QAL is the perfect time to use up those IB scraps. It’s going to be a beautiful quilt with all of your pretty houses. I meant to play along with this QAL, too. Happy Saturday to you! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne
Oooh How pretty, Brenda!! This sounds like a fun QAL . I can not wait to follow your progress.
I just love how your house turned out Brenda! It fascinates me how you can totally change the look of a block by playing with value and colour. I, too, love how the different IB collections over the years play so well together.
