January 2025 Island Batik Unboxing

I am very excited to have been selected again to represent Island Batik for another exciting year of challenges to showcase gorgeous Island Batik fabric and products supplied by their industry partners. This is my fourth year as an ambassador. As an ambassador, we receive boxes of products to participate in the monthly challenges twice a year. This video/slide show will show you all the great goodies I received in this first set of boxes.

Hobbs Batting is returning as a sponsor this year, and they have generously supplied us with several different batts, as well as a bag of Simply Stuffing filler to use in our June Funky Friends Factory challenge. We received the following batts from Hobbs: Heirloom 100% cotton, Tuscany 100% wool, Heirloom Premium 80/20, and Heirloom 80/20 black batts. These can be used with any of our projects. I really love the wool batts for adding definition to quilting.

Hobbs also provided a booklet with all their batting. This will be very helpful in selecting batts for quilts.

For our February challenge, Deb Tucker’s Studio 180 Designs supplied us with a tool to make our project. I received the Four Patch Square Up tool. This is one of the most basic blocks of quilting, and will be very useful.

In addition, for this challenge, I received a new collection, that will begin shipping to stores next month, called Just Dandy. This is an original collection by Kate Colleran Designs for Island Batik. There are two 2-yard cuts of a light and dark fabric that coordinates with this collection. I love these colors!

I received two precuts from the Island Batik basics line. These fabrics are always available at your favorite LQS or online.

I also received a 10 inch stack precut of one of the new collections, Fusion, a signature collection by Jerry Khiev for Swan Sheridan of Swan Amity Studios, and two 2-yard cuts of coordinating fabric.

Another precut I received was a 2-1/2″ strip set, Cosmic, by Jackie Kunkel of Canton Village Quilt Works for Island Batik, with two coordinating fabrics. This will be a fun set to work with!

I received three stash builder bundles! I love these. They are 5 inches by width of fabric strips of four different fabrics, per roll, and there are five rolls in each bundle. One of these bundles contains approximately 2.8 yards of fabric.

I received a six-yard cut of a neutral, Mocha, and also 12 half-yard cuts of foundations, basics, blenders, and solids.

And lastly, in the fabric line, I received four-yard cuts of Island Batik solids – black, white, and grey. These are available year round at your LQS or online. We get a surprise package in each box to be used for a later blog hop. This line of fabrics will be used for the May blog hop. Stay tuned to see what is in this package!!

This year Oliso irons sent the ambassadors a very cool mini iron and carrying case. I received a pretty aqua colored iron with trivet. It is so cool because it has a headlight!! That will be very useful for these old eyes! Last year Oliso sent us a TG-1600 Pro Plus iron, so I am now well stocked for pressing matters!

Two sponsors back again this year are Schmetz needles and Aurifil thread. I absolutely can’t piece without my 50 wt. Aurifil thread and my 80/20 Schmetz needles. We did receive a variety of needles this year. I think the nonstick are my favorite, especially for applique using an iron-on adhesive, and working with vinyl.

Funky Friends Factory is sponsoring our June challenge and I will be making this fun pattern, Dizzy Dolphin. I will be using the Simply Stuffing from Hobbs to stuff this little guy!

AccuQuilt is sponsoring our May blog hop and provided this Irish Chain BOB (block on board) and cutting mat.

Here is a composite of all the wonderful supplies I’ve been provided to work with.

I wish to thank Island Batik, Hobbs Batting, Aurifil thread, Schmetz Needles, Funky Friends Factory, Studio 180 Design, and AccuQuilt for providing the supplies to be used in our upcoming challenges.

Here is a list of the Island Batik ambassadors for 2025. They have shared, or will be sharing, their unboxing videos as well. Check them out!

Until next time…

It must be a real treat to receive that box of goodies. That is a very cool video Brenda. I like the way you did it, very professional and fun to watch! The little Oliso and carrying case is nice, and I love the idea of a headlight on it!
