Monday Musings 10/6/25

Happy Monday morning!!! Welcome to Monday Musings! I hope you have all had a great week and got a lot of fun sewing projects done! I must say that later last week, it really has begun to feel like fall here in the south! Of course, I know that won’t last long, BUT yesterday we had a high of 80, it was overcast, a little wind and really did feel good! The leaves are turning and falling off. I really pray we get some beneficial rain from the system in the Gulf this week, but we will see! Now let’s move on to the good stuff!!

Here’s how my story ended for the week of 9/29- 10/5/25:

  • Make backing and quilt my October blog hop project. DONE!! Well, I’m almost finished quilting. I have one big block left to go but just didn’t have time to get it finished. Here is a preview of some of the FMQ I did.
  • THEN – get the big quilt on the frame. NOPE!! As soon as I get the above table runner off, the big quilt will make it on the frame!
  • Whatever suits my fancy. Hopefully I can make Sew Day this Wednesday! DONE!! I had a good time at Sew Day though I didn’t sew one stitch! I did help one of the ladies cut some blocks for a memory quilt she is making. I have to see if my other little machine will work so I can take it, maybe…or just continue with hand sewing, embroidery, cross-stitch, etc. and forego machine stitching while there. Plus we celebrated my SIL’s birthday on Saturday with a family meal at Red Lobster. When we celebrate birthdays, the birthday person gets to choose where we eat. He chose Red Lobster. It used to be really good, but when we arrived at 11:30 and NO ONE was there, except one car maybe, I thought uh oh, something isn’t right. The quality was not what it used to be, though it was OK; however, with as few people in the restaurant I would have thought we would have had better service, but not so much. Oh well, that was probably our last trip there. I know many of them have closed and I really don’t see this one staying around very long. Sad.

Plans for the week of 10/6- 10/12/25:

  • Hopefully…DEFINITELY…get that quilt loaded on the frame?!
  • Make binding and bind table runner.
  • Start my December IB project.
  • Design some quilts for the Lumin/Island Batik catalog.
  • Whatever cranks my tractor!

Hi Brenda, it sounds like you had a productive week! I’m looking forward to seeing your finished runner. If you would like, please consider linking up tomorrow on FM Mavericks – that pumpkin preview is worth it! Take care.

Brenda it was good to hear you might be getting some fall weather. Here there is snow forecast at the end of the week for a city an hours drive away, but so far we’ve only got rain in our forecast. Looking forward to seeing the runner with the cute quilted pumpkin. Thank you for sharing on To Do Tuesday and hosting us on Monday Musings. My time is being taken up with real life needs so I found a work around so I could volunteer and do some stitching 😉

Nice quilted pumpkin. That was always my fave thing to FMQ (I just do all digital now but one of these days…!).
In talking to my son (currently stationed down there in the south), it does seem you’re getting more fallish weather than we’ve been getting. It’s been hot and blah here, right up until today when it finally decided to cloud up and sprinkle at least. The trees are barely turning but I know it’ll all kick in any day now.

I agree with your meme — There Is No Scrap Fabric. However, knowing I’m trying to whittle down my fabric collection, I realized using 1.5″ squares doesn’t make much of a dent. So, moving forward it should (might?) be all about yardage. Your sneak peek is wonderful. I look forward to seeing the whole thing.

That is so sad about Red Lobster! I used to like it OK, but my husband never cared for it. I think they can rest on the success of their biscuits, now available in a boxed mix. I hope you get that rain. I just got depressed looking at our 10-day forecast! That photo of LeeAnna’s spiral blue hexie made me have to go look at her blog – they are really pretty.

Sorry to hear about your experience at Red Lobster. The last time we went to Red Lobster was last year, when they had all the shrimp you could eat. Our meal was delicious and the service we experienced was awesome.
Fall was coming to our neighborhood, especially with the cool weather we had last week, but this week has changed that with temps in the high 80’s and low 90’s. Looking forward to seeing your new quilt when you get it finished.

It is nice to hear it is beginning to look like Fall in your neck of the woods. It was in the mid 80’s here yesterday. Ooh the sneak peek of your Oct. project looks fabulous. So sorry to hear about the poor service at Red Lobster. I used to love going there but have not gone in years. Have a lovely week, Brenda.
