Don’t wait for a PERFECT Monday…just take your Monday and MAKE it perfect!!

Happy Monday morning everyone!!! Welcome to Monday Musings! I hope you had a great week. Mine has been a week of Mondays and lots of giant sized cuppas were required!! Update on my family in NC: My brother and SIL are back at home. Their power, water, and cable have been restored, so all is well with them and Freddie is much more comfortable wheeling around at home than in a hotel. Unfortunately, my brother-in-law, who lives in the mountains in Gerton, NC, was told this week that it could be months before their power is restored. They were able to buy a generator and purchased Starlink so they could have internet as my SIL works from home as a graphic designer. He was able to get to his job (Whole Foods), which opened up on Thursday. They have been great to give their employees gas and things they need. It took him MUCH longer than usual to get there because of the roads and he had to go through two checkpoints. He and hubby’s sister has a cabin which is normally about 30-45 minutes drive from their house, but because of the roads and bridges being washed out from his house towards Chimney Rock (they live about 20 minutes from there), it would take them at least a couple of hours to find a passable road to get there. Plus I-40 towards her cabin is shut down in places too and there is no idea when that will be repaired. They are actually fearful of leaving their place because of all the looting going on right now, so they are basically still stuck. FEMA is still being NONhelpful to people in the area. Please continue to pray for our families and all those affected by the storm. Now let’s move on to some good stuff!
Here’s how my story ended for the week of 9/30 – 10/6/24:
- Work on large ByAnnie’s bag. DONE!! I have everything cut out and ready to stitch at some point.
- Start thinking about November blog hop project. DONE!! I had put the book I needed for inspiration in a safe place, so had to order a new one. It arrived on Friday and I have a plan!
- Work on a couple of patterns for the Spring/Summer 2025 Island Batik catalog. DONE!! I have three almost ready to submit.
- Whatever suits my fancy! That would be not a lot! We had worship practice Thursday night, so there was that. Then Saturday, we celebrated our son-in-love’s birthday with a family dinner at Texas Roadhouse – and a “new” family member. Miss M brought her honey too. They had all gone to the pumpkin patch for a few hours before.
My plans for the week of 10/7 – 10/13/24:
- Start working on November blog hop project.
- Maybe stitch a little on the second bag.
- Whatever suits my fancy!
Here is some quilty inspiration shared last week!

Wow – so glad everyone is safe, but what a mess . Poor them – thats just not the stuff you want to deal with.
I am with you – lets make our Mondays good ones!!
one has to remember how many people are affected by the storm and some areas are getting help before others. I wish people would stop spreading rumors about FEMA and other agencies. They are not giving all the money to illegal immigrants that money comes from a totally different program. FEMA can not immediately hand out thousands of dollars to everyon, first they are helping with about $700 per family I heard for groceries and whatever but it takes awhile to get it all going. The government can only do just so much – people also need to help themselves – it isn’t done over night – it always seems like people hate the government until they need help and then they expect them to help that day – it doesn’t work like that
I need that big cup of coffee! I’m so glad your brother has been able to get back into his home but sorry about your BIL. It’s good they got a generator but so sad the power will take so long. Remember, FEMA is pretty busy taking care of the illegals. 😉 The folks being interviewed in NC are NOT happy with FEMA. It’s a shame what is happening. I am praying for all the souls in NC and other areas ravaged by the floods.
And now my SIL is in the path of Milton – she has lived in Tampa since 1995, and they never leave their home for any hurricanes. I doubt they will this time either. She says they aren’t in a flood zone, but who knows what might happen.
LOL at putting your book in a “safe place”. I have a little space but somehow manage to hide things from myself. 😀
Awesome that your family members in NC are safe, but wow waiting that long for power would be tough. So much disaster for so many is so very sad. Hugs to you and I am sending good thoughts to those in the path of Helene.
Hope your family and friends can get their lives back on schedule soon. That must be so scary what happened there. Hugs to you and you family.
Hi Brenda, So Glad to hear that your family members in North Carolina are all safe and hopefully things will get better for them when the roads become at least passable, electricity, water, gas, and internet are restored. Although on TV the administration keeps saying that the people who were in the way of Helene are receiving all of the help they have requested, it is obvious from the people harmed by the storm that FEMA, other disaster goverment agencies, and the Red Cross are obviously not getting to many communities that desperately need their help . Prayers for your family members and others harmed by the storm that the help they so desperately need is supplied to their communities soon.
