I look forward to this challenge each year! This month Island Batik is partnering with ByAnnie’s / Pattern’s by Annie to bring you a fun look at bag making with that gorgeous Island Batik fabric! The pattern I chose this year is called PayDay.

For the small bag I chose fabrics from the Playful Posies collection. This pattern calls for two fabrics, but for this bag, I chose three to add some accents and jazz it up a bit! Island Batik and By Annie’s provided all the supplies and fabric required to make the bags. Thank you!!

Today I will be sharing the smaller bag. Let me begin by saying the ByAnnie patterns are well written and the instructions are awesome. Many of the patterns have an add-on video that helps with the “tricky” parts! Plus there are many videos to help with things like zippers, etc. on the website. Each step has check boxes so you can keep up with where you are. As I said, the patterns have well-written instructions, and if you follow them you won’t have as much fun as I did with Jackie the Ripper! LOL Read the instructions, watch the videos, and you will have no problems!
First I printed the labels and cut the pieces as directed. Fabric, interfacing, Soft and Stable, and the webbing for the strap. The next steps involved ironing on the interfacing, making zippers, tabs, strap, and pockets. Then came the main body and putting it all together.
Here are two photos of the inside with the pockets and zippers.
I decided to do some quilting on mine and bling it up a bit. Here is how it turned out!

And here is a photo of the back. I made the back pocket and the strap from the same fabric.

And here is the inside.

I really do enjoy making the ByAnnie bags and look forward to this challenge each year. In addition to Island Batik and Patterns by Annie, I would like to thank Oliso for providing the TG-1600 Pro iron and Schmetz needles for the 90/14 needle I used in making this bag. I used Aurifil thread from my stash. I will be posting the larger bag later this month!

I hope you will visit my fellow ambassadors as they share their beautiful bags this month!
