Rise and grind, let the coffee be your
baconbeacon this Monday ☕✨😊

Happy Monday morning everyone. Welcome to Monday Musings! These Mondays roll around quickly, don’t they? Happy March and Happy National Quilting Month! Wow, it was really nice and warm here this past week. One day we made the low 80s! That’s perfect for me. Though, we had storms roll through Saturday and Saturday night and Sunday our highs were back in the 60s. I think the forecast is for rain every day this week, but at least it’s not snow! I hope you all had a wonderful week. Now let’s move on to the good stuff!!
Here’s how my story ended for the week of 3/2/26- 3/8/26:
- Cut out appliques for block 1 Highland Heifers. DONE!! AND, I got them fused to the background fabric. Here is a photo for you. I think Flossie is just adorable! It’s a little difficult to get the wool to fuse, and since this is my first large wool project, if you have any tips and pointers I’d love to hear them in the comments!

- Find some fabric to back my SAHRR 2026 quilt and maybe get it on the longarm. NOPE! This will carry over to next week.
- Write pattern for Tilt-a-Whirl. DONE!! And will be tested by Gail soon.
- Finalize pattern for Dancing Shadows. DONE!! Hopefully I can release it soon.
- Whatever suits my fancy. DONE!! Sew Day with Friends was Wednesday and I was able to deliver my Pfaff and serger to one of my friends who purchased them. She’s been on a cruise for two weeks, but that gave me lots of time to find everything that goes along with them. I also picked up my large magnetic Bernina hoop that has been backordered for two months! I’ll be using it for the center medallion for Sunshine Cove project. I also got my RSC blocks for February pieced and still had time to link up with everyone for the last RSC linky party. Here they are, and the post is HERE.
Plans for the week of 3/9- 3/15/26:
- Begin stitching on Flossie! I’ve not done any hand stitching in a long time, so I hope I remember the stitches. I really need to find my Handy Pocket Guide for Embroidery Stitching. Hmmm, now in what safe place did I put that?
- Make backing and get SAHRR on the quilt frame to begin quilting.
- Work on my Herrshner’s Christmas Barn project. I’ve been working on it at night while Gary works and we watch a little TV. I’m finding it enjoying and relaxing. Photos on where I am next week. I’ll probably be swapping it up with stitching on Flossie some days!
- Download designs, cutting files, instructions, and begin reviewing videos for Center Medallion of Sunshine Cove.
- Whatever cranks my tractor!
Here is some quilty inspiration shared last week!

Wow Brenda you had an amazingly busy productive week! I love Flossie. She looks very much like one of my granddaughter’s Highland Heifers. 🤭. Thanks for hosting us all. Hope you get to enjoy more of that warm spring weather soon.
Your Highland Heifer block is so adorable, Brenda! I have no tips for fusing the wool appliqué as I’ve never tried that before.
Happy Monday, Brenda. We are expecting rain everyday this week too, but I agree the weather here has been as nice as can be. Oh the little heifer is adorable. Look at that sweet bow. Have a wonderful week. Hugs.
Aww, thanks, Melisa. I think she is just the cutest. I can’t wait until she’s finished and I can start the next one! LOL I have to remind myself to slow down and enjoy the process. Glad you’re home safely. Hugs!
Oh My goodness – Flossie is ADORABLE~!!!
Christmas Barn sounds like fun. Glad you are enjoying the weather. Flossie is so cute!
Thanks, Linda. I think she’s cute as a button, and the Christmas Barn is fun though it takes a while!
I’ve had the same problem with my wool pieces. I just tried some white glue. Mine is Roxanne’s glue with a fine point. I just put a dot or two near the edge that is not cooperating. I’m careful to not use too much because I doubt the finished project will ever be washed. Flossie is very cute. And, I keep my embroidery book with me at all times when I’m working on my snowmen.
Thanks, Bonnie. I do have Roxanne’s and I like it. I’ve even glued binding down temporarily with it! Thanks for the tip.
Awesome Highland Cow. Maybe to help fusible stick, I would use a dab of elmers glue or a glue stick, or a touch of 505 spray.
Thanks, Kat. I may try a glue stick next time!
Bacon–haha! Flossie is the cutest!!! How about just doing some straight line quilting across her in clear thread, so as to avoid the hand stitching? That’s what I would do.
