Monday Musings 5/26/25

by | May 26, 2025 | 9 comments

Happy Monday morning!!! Welcome to Monday Musings! I hope you have all had a wonderful week. Mine was busy but good and I got most of my goals accomplished! Thursday was the last day of the Island Batik Irish Chain Blog Hop. I hope you got to visit some of the other ambassadors to check out their Irish Chain quilts! Now, let’s move on to the good stuff!!

Here’s how my story ended for the week of 5/19- 5/25/25:

  • Make binding and bind the youth fundraiser quilt. DONE!! Here is a photo. I need suggestions for a name. I’ve thought of either Throw a Wrench In It or Seeing Stars Through the Barn Door! Chat GPT suggests a Star Among the Dashes, which I also like. I am open to other suggestions!
  • Gather materials and hopefully start on my June IB project. Next month we are making a Funky Friends Factory stuffed animal. I’ll be making a dolphin. DONE!! Fabrics chosen and cut out. Ready to sew!
  • Work on some secret sewing and pattern writing. DONE!! New pattern released this week! You can find it on sale until 5/31 HERE. These fabrics are shipping to stores now. The collection is called Merry Moments by Jerry Khiev for Island Batik.
  • Sewing Day with friends, maybe? NOPE!! Hopefully next week!
  • Whatever suits my fancy. DONE!! The last day of school was Thursday. Miss M didn’t have to go that day and was only partial days Monday – Wednesday for finals. It was really weird not to be picking her up…it still feels unreal that she’s driving herself now! The boys wanted us to pick them up Thursday as they were out at 1 and mom had to stay until 3:15 or after trying to get everything done. She had to be there Friday also so all three of them came to the house Friday morning and had breakfast with us…when they got up! LOL I think she’s enjoying this independence thing, but it’s a bit scary for parents and grandparents! Makes me wonder if my mom and dad felt that way. I’m sure they did.

Plans for the week of 5/26 – 6/2/25:

  • Work on Dizzy the Dolphin.
  • Work on some more secret sewing.
  • Sew Day with friends hopefully!
  • Whatever cranks my tractor!

Brenda it sounds as if you had a very fun, productive week. I love both quilts and your new pattern looks like fun! As usual your fabric choices are perfect.
Isn’t it a bit startling when all of a sudden those grands are independent and driving? It seems to happen way too quickly. The next shocker will be marriage and then great grands!

Independence is always scary but a good thing for all! I laughed about breakfast when they got up! My son often is on the 2 meal plan because his rising time is always late when he is here…catching up! Have a fabulous week!

Ok, now I am anxious to see Dizzy the Dolphin- how cute is that name. LOL. Your Monkey Wrench / Hole in the Barn Door is stunning, Brenda. I wish you a very productive week. Hugs.

Your new pattern is great. Congrats on getting it finished and the pattern written. I also like your Throw a Wrench In It. Maybe stop at Throw a Wrench. I am terrible at naming quilts which means most of mine go by colors or block names, sometimes fabric style or print. Maybe Purple Wrench? It’s terrific no matter what you call it.

I have no ideas on a name for the quilt, but I do like all the suggestions I’ve seen so far. Both quilt projects are very pretty!!

Have a great week! How clever to ask ChatGPT to name your quilt!

The name that popped into my head for your quilt was, “Churning it Up”. Not sure if it is any better than the names you already mentioned, but I figured I would throw a wrench into the works and give you more choices. :0) Hey, maybe “Throw a Wrench Into it” is another name you could use? LOL!!!
