Despite December being such a busy month, I did manage to meet my goals for this month – yeah!!! I don’t always reach my goals, but thankfully, these were three things I really needed to get done by the end of the month – or sooner!! Mostly sooner!! LOL So, now, without further ado, let’s check out the accomplishments!! Thank you Patty of Elm Street Quilts, for keeping us accountable with the One Monthly Goal linkup!
Goal #1 was to quilt the Christmas Owl flimsy and use it as a mantel quilt this year! Goal #1 – completed!! The Appliqued in-the-hoop Embroidered Christmas Owls mantel scarl was quilted and bound and hung on the mantel!! I had so much fun quilting this little quilt using one of the rulers in our HQ Ruler of the month club at ZigZag Sewing Studio!

Goal #2 was to embroider and make new Christmas stockings this year for my grandchildren. They were allowed to choose the embroidery design and and the fabric from which each wanted their stocking made. Well, all except Braden, who wanted an orange stocking!! Eeeeek!! GiGi quickly nixed that idea and gave him a choice of red, green or blue! Since his twin, Dalton, loves green and he said, “GiGi, I don’t like green so much!!” He decided on red (he did have two different shades from which to choose! And when all was said and done – he loved it and his nutcracker design really looked good on it! I guess next year I’ll have to make him an orange stocking that he can hang at home! I’m sure mom will love that!! Goal #2 – completed!!

Goal #3 was to finalize a pattern for the quilt I will be entering into our guild’s QuiltFest 2019 in June. I’ve been playing around a lot in EQ8 trying to decide exactly how I wanted it to look. If you follow my blog, you may remember that I had digitized 12 embroidered Jacobean pumpkin quilt blocks that were stitched out (these are available in my shop under Fall Celebrations, if you like and do machine embroidery.) I found some awesome batik fabric at my LQS, and later went back and found some pretty purple fabric for the sashing! This is the layout I have decided upon. Goal #3 – completed!! I plan to write up a pattern for this layout. I was playing around with fussy cutting some Tula Pink fabric for the main blocks, and it was awesome!!

Wow – I did it!! Those are my goals and finishes for December! I’ll be setting some 2019 goals in my next post. Now to go cut some of that beautiful fabric into pieces for my quilt! Or, maybe I need to clean up my studio first. I need to make room for the new ScanNCut my DH got me for Christmas and pack up my Cameo for my daughter. Hmmm … decisions, decisions!!
I’ll be linking up with my favorite linkies as they open up – yep those over there —> in the side bar – and, with Elm Street Quilt’s One Monthly Goal! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Until next time…

Brenda, that owl mantel quilt is totally adorable! How lovely to see the smiling faces of your grandchildren with their stockings, and lol on Braden wanting orange – I think you should’ve gone with it regardless of Gigi! Wishing you all the best in 2019 for more productivity!
