Where, Oh Where, Did My Mojo Go?!

Have you ever just lost your sewing/quilting/blogging mojo? Well, unfortunately that has been a problem for me the past few weeks. After all the preparation leading up to our guild quilt show in June, plus the additional responsibility of being in charge of the Opportunity Shop, Ms. Mojo just got up and left!! I must say, the show was a resounding success this year, though, for which I am very grateful and pleased! Below are the quilts I entered in QuiltFest 2019. While I didn’t win a ribbon for any of these, and I really stressed myself out to get everything completed in the nick of time, I always look forward to the judge’s comments. They really help me improve my quilting.

This is Diamond Mist. I made this from a pattern called Tartary by Tammy Silvers of Tamarinis.com. This was a last minute project when I was asked by our pastor’s wife to make a donation quilt for a youth camp fundraiser! And she actually won it!!
Second was my quilt Wonderland. This quilt was actually created for a guild challenge last year. The center tree is appliqued on a Nova panel. I won the Tula Pink All Stars fat quarters in a blog hop. I just love those critters!! The green and purple are Moda grunge. The embroidery designs were digitized by yours truly! And I’m so excited, one of our guild members wants to buy it!!
This is Jacobean Pumpkin Patch. Please excuse the shadows. The lighting at the venue was not the best and it was very difficult for the photographer to get good clean shots. I think she did a wonderful job considering the lighting! This is an original design. The pumpkins are embroidered and are available in my shop under the Quilt Blocks, as well as Fall Celebrations categories. This is the first time I’ve ever designed a quilt with a flange, but it was fun once I decided on the design!

After the show, I needed to complete the quilt for the guild fundraiser for next year which was due July 8th (more on this in a later post!) Unfortunately, I developed severe sciatica for two weeks after the show and ended up in the doctor’s office getting two injections and three prescriptions. But I did finish that quilt – the only way I could – and that was thanks to “better living through chemistry!!” LOL

So with all that was going on and the sciatic pain, I really lost my mojo! I decided to take a week off after the guild meeting, and regroup. I only have four quilts to quilt, so I really needed a little push to get started. That’s when my new friend Rose from Threadbare Creations popped into my inbox!! She had written an article on how to Reignite Your Creative Spark (see graphics below). This article, along with my chill week last week, was just what I needed!

My finish for the week. This top was sent to me to quilt and bind as part of the Carolina Hurricane Project. I love the scrappy look. I apologize for the dark picture. The picture really doesn’t do it justice!

Rose, these suggestions are spot on! I relaxed last week. I’m trying not to compare but coming off a quilt show with over 300 gorgeous, well made quilts, it’s really hard! I decided to “reconnect” with Ms. Mattie, who has been ignored for about three weeks now! I committed to getting one of those quilts done. On Wednesday, I quilted my last quilt I had committed to doing for the Carolina Hurricane Project. Today, I trimmed and bound it. Tomorrow it will go in the mail to North Carolina! Yeah!! Sometime this weekend, I will get the first of the remaining customer quilts on Ms. Mattie and get started on it. These three will be custom quilted, so I don’t foresee getting them done in a day, but I will work on them every day until completed. Tomorrow I will celebrate my finish for this week by having lunch with my hubby, daughter, and grandchildren! You know, it’s all about those grands!!

So…if you’ve lost YOUR mojo, go find it and get back to enjoying what you love to do!!

I answer all comments via email. Please spread the love about my blog!

Well I have to admit to knowing all about losing my blogging mojo! But maybe I found it again yesterday! You’ve been busy on some really gorgeous projects! I hope your guild’s show went well; I was really sorry to have missed it. Our cutoff for entries to our show was last night’s guild meeting. We got more entries than we can hang … always a good problem!! 🙂
