A Lovely Neighborhood!

by | Jun 29, 2023 | 11 comments

Welcome back, friends! As most of you are aware, I have been participating with our friend Sandra, of MMM Quilts in her Rainbow Neighbourhood Quilt Along. Due to other commitments, of course, I lagged behind, but I have finally gotten my neighborhood pieced together into a flimsy!! On Monday, I shared my houses with you, and I will reshare them before I show you the flimsy.

I wanted to use some of the other elements in Sandra’s pattern – trees, hearts, pinwheels, and flowers, so I incorporated them into the neightborhood as well. I did not take individual photos, but you can see them all right here in this beautiful flimsy (if I do say so myself!)

And here is how the goofball started off. He first held the flimsy up with the back showing, so I asked him to turn around … and he did! I should have videoed him dancing around like this, but I didn’t! I’m sure Chloe was thinking “What’s he doing? Dad does NOT know how to dance! LOL I can tell you, life has been fun for the past 45+ years!!

Lovely Neighborhood measures 58 1/2 x 62 1/2. This is a perfect throw size for using when sitting in my recliner and watching TV! I used my beautiful Island Batik scraps throughout this quilt and pieced with my favorite Schmetz needles and Aurifil thread! Now I look forward to getting it quilted and bound and ready to use!

I’m linking up with Sandra at MMM Quilts. Hey Sandra, I made it with one day to spare!!! LOL Head over to the link and check out all the beautiful neighborhoods that have been submitted. Get inspired, purchase Sandra’s pattern, and build your own neighborhood!! Until next time…

I just love that! The layout is so unique and creative (as is your husband, rather like mine.)

Yay you, Brenda! I got my own quilt done with hours to spare! I just LOVE how you modified the design! The pattern is even more versatile than I thought! It’s so wonderful seeing all the creativity. I am working my way through the parade, and going to do the prize draw today! I also am showing my own husband/intrepid quilt holder the shot of your husband ‘dancing’! Thank you so very much for quilting along and for sewing like crazy to make the deadline; I well remember how much time is involved in the monthly IB challenges, so I truly am grateful you did this. 🙂

Oh, you gotta love a wise guy! Love your quilt and that you finished it with one day to spare. Fun to know it will be your lap quilt keeping you warm when needed.

Brenda , your neighborhood is adorable. I love looking at each and every house . The fabrics give the homes such character and texture as well. Lol it sounds like you and your hubby had a ball photographing this quilt. Have a great weekend and a safe July 4th. Hugs.

Those batiks made really lovely houses! And you got to use scraps – big plus. I like the additions you made too. Will you quilt it? Your husband looks like a fun guy. Aren’t they the greatest for making us laugh? 🙂
