Welcome!! Today I bring you my project for the May Island Batik Triangle Tricks Challenge! Obviously, this challenge involved making triangles and incorporating them into a quilt! This was a very fun challenge and, as always, I thoroughly enjoyed working with these gorgeous Island Batik fabrics!

To begin, I chose a 2-1/2 inch strip pack, Wondrous, by Jerry Khiev, and two blenders that were packaged with it, Honeydew (one of my favorites) and Bluegrass. These blenders/basics are available year round from your favorite LQS that carries Island Batik fabrics!

I looked around on Pinterest to try to come up with a design for which I could use the strips. After a lot of wasted time, I ran across one that I thought would work and set out to play!!
I ordered this 60 degree ruler from Creative Grids (no affiliation) when I thought about this challenge and how to put this quilt together. It was quick and easy to use.
To make this quilt, I sewed four 2-1/2 inch strips together randomly until I had ten strip sets. Next, using the ruler, I cut all the triangles from each strip set and started placing them on the design wall.

Once, I decided on placement, I stitched them together in vertical rows, then added the borders. I used Honeydew and made a 2-1/2 inch border, strips cut with my AccuQuilt 2-1/2 inch strip die, and added the second border of Bluegrass cut with my 3-1/2 inch strip die! I love my AccuQuilt GO!Big cutting machine!! It saves me so much time and many aches and pains! The 2-1/2 inch strip die was also used to make the binding.
I added extra triangles for the cornerstones in the outer border. Using the Qube Angles Companion, I cut kite shapes from each of the four 60 degree triangle blocks left over after making the body of the quilt, using die #15. The side tri-rec shapes for the cornerstones were cut with the #14 die. Here are the corner blocks. These were really fun to make!

And here is my quilt! I’m so happy we had a gorgeous sunny day for pics as it has rained ALL week!
