Wake up and smell the motivation…or just the coffee ☕️👃

Happy Monday morning!!! Welcome to Monday Musings! I hope you have all had a wonderful week. The knee is about back to the “normal” pain and swelling. Thankfully it doesn’t hurt as much as the past two weeks. We are in the midst of the “dog days” of summer here in the south. We are expecting temps in the mid to upper 90s and “feels like” temps up to 107-108. I say that’s a great time to stay in and sew! My sweet friend, Linda, sent me a pattern called Firm Foundation that is used with the Fancy That Design House hymn panels, which I have in my stash! Thanks so much, dear friend! Now, let’s move on to the good stuff!!
Here’s how my story ended for the week of 7/21- 7/27/25:
- Begin working on my September Island Batik challenge. We will be doing a crazy quilt using Aurifil thread and a new collection that will be shipping to stores this fall. DONE!! I am doing a QAYG crazy quilt and have the backing, batting and lots of pieces cut. I even have four blocks completed! YAY Sneak peek! Love this fabric collection!

- Continue resting the knee. DONE!!
- Maybe?? get another quilt on the frame that needs quilting soon. We will see how that goes. NOPE! It’s still in waiting mode!
- Whatever cranks my tractor! DONE!! Nothing other than an MD appointment and just taking it easy. We did have lunch with our daughter and kiddos after the appointment. Look at these beautiful kiddos. Those boys are 13 and already 6′ tall!

Plans for the week of 7/28 – 8/3/25:
- Continue working on September IB challenge.
- Write a post showing the last box of goodies we received from Island Batik this week.
- Whatever suits my fancy. Maybe get the quilt on the frame, maybe Sew Day with Friends…we will see what the week brings…and what the heat deters! LOL

It’s fun to get out with the grands every once in a while. My daughter and family will be staying with us on their way to Nags Head and a week at the beach. It saves them 2 hours on Saturday morning and we enjoy getting to see them all. I’m looking forward to seeing your goodies from IB. Have a quilty week.
Good morning, Brenda. Your crazy block is looking fabulous. Love the bits of lace. I am looking forward to seeing your quilt in the near future. I am so glad to hear that your knee is on the mend. Do continue to take care. Your grandchildren are beautiful and wow so tall. They still have more growing to do as well. I hope they are enjoying their summer. Have a blessed day. Hugs.
Thank you so much, Melisa! They are definitely growing up WAY too quickly! Have a great week! Hugs.
Hi Brenda, it looks like you had a pretty good week! I’m looking forward to seeing the crazy quilt – and QAYG – very cool! Best of luck and thanks for the party!
Thank you! Your grand kids are growing up quickly. Hope that your knee continues to get better. Have a great week.
I love that Firm Foundation pattern where the hymn panels are part of a church! Will you be making it? I just have one of the large panels left. Maybe I could make a wall hanging… Glad to hear your knee is getting better. I’m praying it continues along that line. Super cute peek of your crazy quilt! Your family is adorable!!! Wow, I wish my fabric cubbies looked that beautiful!!!!
You are so lucky to have those hymn panels in your stash – all I see when I search for them is “out of stock”! Such a cute pattern – I have it in my Wishlist. You have such good looking grandkids! Glad you knee is getting back to normal.
Hi Brenda, The new quilt project that you have started looks fabulous! Have a great week!
Thanks, Gail! Have a great week!
